At Dyson we’re obsessed with continuously making things better, pushing the boundaries of what others have defined as impossible. We do this by making products that solve real world problems using both novel technologies and established technologies, in new and innovative ways.
About the roleDyson’s Virtual Engineering team brings together specialists in FEA, thermal, moldflow, optics, vibration, and electromagnetics simulation. By using advanced digital modelling, we solve engineering challenges and optimise products before building physical prototypes. Our collaborative, multi-disciplinary team works globally and partners externally to deliver data-driven insights for world-class products.
Embark on a transformative journey with our two-year Graduate programme designed for your career success. Our unique experiential journey provides a framework so you can reach your full potential with leadership talks, development workshops and more, all whilst surrounded by industry leading experts. Join us to unlock personal and professional growth and ignite your career potential.
1. Perform structural, moldflow and thermal analysis.
2. Work within a project team to deliver optimized structural robustness on Dyson products mainly using Finite Element Analysis, both in development and production in the following areas:
Drive design forward and ensure correct decisions are made at all stages of the design process through credible simulation methods.
Pick up technical skills (as needed) to resolve an issue through self-learning or approaching technical mentors.
Work collaboratively with Design Engineers through defining simulation/ experimental targets and adhering to the Dyson development process; Product Life Management (Specification, FMEA, FRACAS), Product Creation Framework and periodic status reporting.
Ensure proper handover of projects with agreed deliverables, from UK to SEA, communicating well with project stakeholders.
3. Proactively assess risks and solve problems impacting the product desired performance or customer satisfaction based on analytics data:
Able to identify characterize, and highlight risk in a clear and concise manner
Find the mitigations of issue(s) through systematic and thorough research/ measurement, present findings to the cross-functional team to drive towards timely and elegant solution.
Drive technical excellence within organization, e.g. promoting best practices of designs for mechanical robustness, either through day to day work within the project or knowledge sharing sessions.
4. Identify and develop new opportunities/ tools methods with the aim of enhancing the performance, reliability and time to market of Dyson products.

Dyson Insights
What We Do
At Dyson we are focused on solving the problems that others have ignored; solving them first using our technology and ingenuity. In order to achieve this we need to pioneer technologies that are different and authentic. This is the core of what we do and who we are. We must strive to create the future, every single day by developing new things, different things, things that go against the grain with a diverse and global team of ingenious minds. Dyson employs over 14,000 people and is present in more than 80 countries. And while we are growing fast we want Dyson to remain a start-up in spirit with the freedom of experimentation and learning, constantly reinventing our products as well as reinventing how we work, how we sell and how we support our owners. At the same time we are working through the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson Award and Dyson Institute to inspire future engineers and pioneering a new approach to engineering education. Underlining everything we do in this diverse environment is the need to always show respect, supporting each other as one team to overcome whatever challenges we encounter. We drive empowerment, development and equality in an inclusive environment for our people around the world. The future doesn’t just happen, we look to make it happen, to achieve leaps through pioneering new ideas
