Opening new worlds for molecular discovery
The Role
The GPCR Molecular Pharmacologist will lead in vitro biology strategies for drug discovery, manage assay development for small molecules, collaborate with experts for hit-finding activities, and oversee data analysis in a cross-functional team focused on improving drug discovery programs.
Summary Generated by Built In

We are seeking a GPCR Molecular Pharmacologist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.
As a member of our Therapeutics Group, you will provide insight and lead GPCR in vitro biology in support of our drug discovery programs, from target assessment through lead optimization. We are a cross-functional group of scientists and drug developers with experience working on all common target classes across therapeutic areas. We are supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers, as well as a large-scale computational infrastructure to apply our proprietary physics-based drug design and optimization platform. Several programs we have worked on have achieved Development Candidates, including progression to clinical development and FDA approval. Who Will Love This Job

  • A molecular pharmacologist with an in-depth knowledge of GPCR pharmacology
  • A self-starter who has extensive experience with in vitro biology assay development, execution, and troubleshooting
  • A drug discovery scientist who proactively identifies the correlation of heterologous system-based data with those of physiologically relevant cell and in vivo models
  • A team player who enjoys cross-functional collaboration and adapts to changes in program direction, even under tight deadlines
  • A creative, results-oriented, and data-driven scientist interested in multiple disease areas
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator who can convey a compelling message to multiple functions

What You Will Do

  • Guide in vitro biology strategies for exploratory and early-stage drug discovery efforts
  • Manage experimental design, development, and implementation of cell-based assays for small molecule drug discovery projects
  • Independently train and manage CRO scientists for in vitro biology assay development and compound screening efforts
  • Oversee review, analysis, and interpretation of in vitro data
  • Collaborate with other functional area experts on hit-finding activities in the undrugged target space

What You Should Have

  • PhD in molecular pharmacology with 1-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries; 2-year postdoctoral work focused on GPCRs will be considered
  • In-depth knowledge of the intricacies of multiple signaling pathways, biased signaling, and internalization/recycling of GPCRs
  • Background in in vitro biology assay development and execution as it relates to screening funnels for drug discovery programs
  • Experience in cell-based techniques such as HTRF, NanoBRET, Tag-Lite, and Label-Free technologies (kinetic and endpoint modes)
  • The know-how and perseverance in cracking and interrogating orphan GPCR pharmacology are preferred
  • Experience managing external studies at CROs is preferred
