The Role
This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
Here’s What You’ll Do

PFD Documentation Organization
-
Assist in organizing and compiling Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) across products and projects
-
Gather and associate lead sheets, particularly those from vendor-produced PFDs
-
Develop and implement a standardized “Moderna PFD Lead Sheet” template for use with Global Engineering-produced PFDs
-
Maintain a structured and accessible inventory of PFDs and associated documentation
-
Process Mapping to Batch Records
-
Collect batch records corresponding to selected PFDs
-
Map process steps from the PFDs to the appropriate sections of each batch record
-
Document key material and equipment inputs for each process step

Capstone Deliverable

By the end of the internship, the intern will produce a summary report and presentation outlining:

The standardized PFD documentation approach, including the finalized lead sheet template

A representative case study that links a PFD to a full batch record, highlighting process flow, material inputs, and equipment mapping

Recommendations for future documentation improvements or process automation opportunities

Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related Life Science field

Strong interest in Global Engineering

Basic knowledge of engineering principles and an eagerness to apply them in real-world scenarios.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

A proactive approach to learning and applying new skills.
