Global Engineering Technical Intern

The Role
This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• PFD Documentation Organization

• Assist in organizing and compiling Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) across products and projects

• Gather and associate lead sheets, particularly those from vendor-produced PFDs

• Develop and implement a standardized “Moderna PFD Lead Sheet” template for use with Global Engineering-produced PFDs

• Maintain a structured and accessible inventory of PFDs and associated documentation

• Process Mapping to Batch Records

• Collect batch records corresponding to selected PFDs

• Map process steps from the PFDs to the appropriate sections of each batch record

• Document key material and equipment inputs for each process step

• Capstone Deliverable

• By the end of the internship, the intern will produce a summary report and presentation outlining:

• The standardized PFD documentation approach, including the finalized lead sheet template

• A representative case study that links a PFD to a full batch record, highlighting process flow, material inputs, and equipment mapping

• Recommendations for future documentation improvements or process automation opportunities

• Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

• Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related Life Science field

• Strong interest in Global Engineering

• Basic knowledge of engineering principles and an eagerness to apply them in real-world scenarios.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

• A proactive approach to learning and applying new skills.
