POSITION PURPOSE

The Director Global Supply Chain is responsible for developing and executing BAC's global supply chain strategy for critical components, commodities, and supplier capabilities that enable product innovation, manufacturing competitiveness, and sustainable growth. This role serves as the strategic connection to ensure BAC maintains a resilient, cost-competitive, and technically capable global supplier network.

The Director leads the identification, qualification, and optimization of suppliers supporting BAC's global product portfolio and future technology roadmap. The role drives supplier capability development, risk mitigation, value engineering, component standardization, and sourcing strategies that improve quality, cost, delivery performance, and supply continuity. The position also provides leadership in aligning global engineering requirements with supplier capabilities to accelerate new product introduction, support product sustainment, and enable global expansion initiatives.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategic Sourcing and Procurement

  • Develop and execute global supply chain strategies for critical components, materials, and supplier categories that support BAC's long-term business, engineering, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, commercialization, and lifecycle management activities for key global components and technologies.
  • Establish global sourcing roadmaps aligned with product technology plans, manufacturing strategies, and regional growth requirements.
  • Drive supplier rationalization, standardization, and consolidation initiatives that improve scalability, quality, and cost competitiveness across BAC's global operations.
  • Negotiate strategic commercial agreements and long-term partnerships that ensure competitive cost structures, capacity availability, and technology access.

Supplier Engineering & Product Support

  • Partner with Global Product Engineering, CPI, NPI, Quality, and Regional Engineering teams to ensure suppliers of critical components and materials can meet technical, performance, regulatory, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives that improve product cost, quality, manufacturability, and supply reliability without compromising performance or customer value.
  • Support engineering change management, product redesign efforts, and component standardization strategies that reduce complexity and risk across BAC's product portfolio.
  • Ensure supplier technical capabilities evolve in support of BAC's innovation roadmap and emerging product technologies.

Supply Continuity and Risk Management

  • Develop and maintain global supply risk management strategies addressing capacity constraints, geopolitical risks, material shortages, regulatory changes, and supplier financial stability.
  • Establish proactive supply assurance processes including dual sourcing, alternative technology qualification, strategic inventory plans, and business continuity programs.
  • Monitor global market trends, commodity availability, and supplier capacity utilization to identify and mitigate risks before they impact operations.
  • Serve as the executive escalation point for critical supplier performance issues, material shortages, and supply disruptions affecting business performance.
  • Lead cross-functional recovery efforts to minimize operational and customer impacts during supply chain disruptions.

Performance and Inventory Optimization

  • Establish and monitor global performance metrics related to supplier quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, innovation, and risk management.
  • Drive measurable improvements in total landed cost, inventory productivity, forecast accuracy, and supplier performance.
  • Partner with Operations, Planning, and Regional Supply Chain teams to align sourcing strategies with demand forecasts, capacity planning, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste elimination, process standardization, digitalization, and operational efficiency.
  • Implement supplier scorecards, benchmarking systems, and governance routines that drive accountability and performance improvement across the supply base.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Integration

  • Lead and develop a high-performing global team focused on supply chain engineering, supplier development, strategic sourcing, and technical supplier management.
  • Foster strong partnerships across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Regional leadership teams to execute enterprise priorities.
  • As the leader of the Global Supply Chain Committee, establish a global governance structure for supplier performance, component strategy, key supply chain performance indicators and risk management across regions.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding sourcing investments, supplier partnerships, capacity requirements, and technology opportunities.
  • Prepare budgets, strategic plans, performance reports, and business cases supporting organizational objectives and resource allocation.
  • Perform additional duties and strategic projects as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE

This role reports to the Global VP and Head of Engineering & Mfg Strategy. and operates at an enterprise level with responsibility for developing and executing global supplier and component strategies that support BAC's worldwide operations and product portfolio.

The position leads highly complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain organizations across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. The Director influences decisions well beyond direct reporting relationships and is accountable for balancing technical, operational, quality, and commercial considerations in support of BAC's strategic objectives.

The role has significant impact on product cost, quality, supplier performance, manufacturing continuity, and business profitability. Success requires developing both short-term execution plans and long-term (3-5 year) supply chain capability roadmaps aligned with BAC's business and technology strategies.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, supplier engineering, strategic sourcing, manufacturing, product engineering, or operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading global supplier qualification, sourcing strategy, supplier development, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Experience supporting new product development, product sustainment, supplier engineering, and global manufacturing operations.

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, component technologies, supplier qualification methodologies, quality systems, and supply chain management principles.
  • Deep knowledge of global sourcing, strategic procurement, supplier development, risk management, and value engineering methodologies.
  • Experience driving cost reduction, product standardization, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or comparable ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable business decisions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 50% of the time. Working conditions include those of a normal office environment, as well as standard hazards associated with installed HVAC equipment and rotating equipment when making site or manufacturing facility visits. This position requires occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs and travel of up to 30% of the time.


BAC Hiring Compensation Range $143,100-$245,400
