About Us

Stronghold Investment Management (“Stronghold,” “SIM,” or “the Firm”) is a technology-driven, vertically integrated investment manager focused on real-assets and related private markets. Stronghold seeks to deliver best-in-class risk-adjusted returns through an investment framework that features comparatively rapid transaction velocity, deep technical expertise, creative financial structuring, and objective and algorithmic decision making.

Stronghold was founded by Ryan Turner in 2016 and has deployed over $1.6 billion in capital across 10+ investment vehicles.

Ultimately, Stronghold intends to apply its technology-intensive investment approach to a variety of specialist real assets verticals, including:

  • Oil & Gas
  • Renewables
  • Specialty Real Estate (commercial, datacenters, marinas)
  • Telecommunications and Technology Infrastructure
  • Billboards and Fixtures
  • Mining & other commodities
  • Utilities
  • Secondaries

Your Mission

We're seeking a GIS Analyst to join Stronghold's growing team, where your maps don't just visualize data, they drive investment decisions on real assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

You'll deliver geospatial analysis and mapping solutions that directly support Land, Engineering, and Geological teams operating across U.S. oil and gas basins. Your work will shape how the firm understands acreage, evaluates drilling opportunities, and navigates the regulatory landscape that determines what Stronghold can and can't do with its assets.

This is the right role for a GIS professional who's done more than make maps, someone who understands the upstream business, brings sharp analytical instincts, and wants their work to have a direct line to the firm's investment outcomes. If you're ready to own your craft inside a fast-moving, technology-driven firm, this is where you do it.

Key Responsibilities -
What You’ll Own

  • Be the mapping authority. Deliver comprehensive, high-quality mapping support to Land, Engineering, and Geological teams across multiple U.S. basins.
  • Bridge the disciplines. Collaborate with teams across Land, Engineering, Geology, and Tech to troubleshoot geospatial issues and build efficiencies that make everyone faster.
  • Analyze what's at stake. Conduct detailed analysis of horizontal wellbores and drilling units to determine participation using acreage allocation and lateral length allocation methods.
  • Keep the data clean. Maintain coordinate system standards, run QC processes, and document spatial accuracy protocols, because bad data costs money.
  • Know the rules. Research and interpret state-specific oil and gas regulations, spacing rules, and unitization requirements, turning regulatory complexity into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Own the land grid. Maintain and update the firm's land grid when discrepancies arise, keeping the foundation everyone builds on accurate and current.

Qualifications - What You Bring

  • A strong technical foundation. Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related spatial discipline.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on GIS experience. You've done the work in a professional setting, not just in the classroom.
  • Deep ArcGIS fluency. You know the suite inside and out and can move quickly without hand-holding.
  • Analytical precision. You catch errors before they become problems and bring rigor to everything you produce.
  • Clear communication across teams. You can translate geospatial complexity into language that Land, Engineering, and Geology teams can actually use.

Preferred Qualifications - What Sets You Apart

  • Upstream oil and gas experience. You've supported Land teams before, you understand the business context behind the maps you're making.
  • Property legal knowledge. Familiarity with deed plots, the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), and property legal terminology will let you hit the ground running.
