The Role

Position Summary

The GIS System Support Analyst 1 is responsible for integrating, maintaining,  and supporting CoServ’s ArcGIS Enterprise Platform.  This position is responsible for application configuration and support, data development, data quality, spatial analysis, and map production.  The GIS System Support Analyst 1 works closely with the GIS team to deliver excellent spatial solutions to the organization.

Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Integrate, configure and maintain ESRI’s ArcGIS Enterprise Platform software.
  • Coordinate with software vendors and business users to identify, correct, and test issues with enterprise GIS software.
  • Assist with development, testing, documentation and implementation of ESRI's ArcGIS Enterprise Platform architecture, software, or workflows.
  • Analyze production data using GIS technology and produce maps and/or reports in order to support CoServ’s business users.
  • Design and implement processes related to GIS within the enterprise.
  • Analyze the quality of existing GIS system data and processes.
  • Assist with the implementation of GIS related projects within the organization.
  • Complete spatial or data analysis, and reporting for business needs and requests.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with the departments and individuals supported.
  • Document work performed using enterprise ticketing system.
  • Work with departmental experts to support a variety of GIS Integrations.
  • Train users on GIS software and technology.
  • Create presentations for various audiences including business users, leadership, and software user conferences.
  • Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
  • Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.

Secondary Position Responsibilities

  • Participates in a rotating 24/7 after-hours on-call duty.
  • Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Position Requirements

Education, Experience, and Certifications Required

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
  • BS or BA in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems or related degree.
  • Verifiable history of progressive GIS experience and responsibility may be substituted for degree.
  • 2+ years of experience with ESRI software.
  • 1+ years of progressive GIS Analyst experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with Enterprise ArcSDE Geodatabases utilizing Oracle or SQL Server databases.

Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred 

  • 1+ years of SQL, ESRI ArcObjects, Python Scripting, Visual Basic or other GIS development code.
  • Experience deploying map applications with ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro, ArcServer, ArcGIS Portal, DataStore and/or ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with Schneider Electric ArcFM software for utilities.
  • Experience with Electric or Gas GIS data and/or network concepts.
  • Understanding of Business Process Analysis and workflow concepts.
  • Technical writing/user documentation preparation experience.       

Skills and Abilities Required 

  • Strong spatial analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Service oriented with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Work closely in a team environment to quickly and efficiently solve problems.
  • Ability to operate office machinery, such as copier, fax machine and personal computer.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft software (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Ability to work effectively as a project team lead.

Skills and Abilities Preferred

  • Understanding of Information Technology/Systems(IT/IS) practical architecture and best practices.
  • Ability to navigate and configure aspects of Windows Server and/or Linux Server operating systems(OS).
  • Ability to solve complex system and business unit problems. 

Physical Requirements

  • Indoor, office environment.
  • Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to drive occasionally.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Uses computer for extensive periods of time.
  • Works extended hours as needed or directed.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
