Estamos buscando un/a Gerente de Riesgo de Terceros (TPRM), con base en Argentina, para apoyar al negocio y al equipo de Ética y Cumplimiento (E&C) de Rio Tinto, en particular al equipo de Operaciones TPRM y al equipo Regional de Ética y Cumplimiento, en la implementación y soporte del Marco de Gestión de Riesgo de Terceros de Rio Tinto en Sudamérica.

  • Proyecto de Litio Rincón (Salta, Argentina): Rio Tinto es propietaria y está desarrollando el proyecto de litio Rincón en el Salar del Rincón.

  • Operación de Litio Fénix (Catamarca, Argentina): Una de las operaciones de litio más antiguas de Argentina, dedicada a la producción de carbonato de litio para las cadenas globales de suministro de baterías.

  • Proyecto Sal de Vida (Catamarca, Argentina): Un importante proyecto de salmuera de litio en Catamarca.

Esta es una gran oportunidad para ser reconocido/a como experto/a en tu propia área, que requiere profundidad y/o amplitud especializada de conocimientos.

Reportarás al Gerente General de Gestión de Riesgo de Terceros, con base en Australia, y serás responsable de implementar el Marco de Gestión de Riesgo de Terceros de Rio Tinto mediante:

  • Gestionar y mejorar la calidad de la debida diligencia: colaborar con Operaciones TPRM y stakeholders regionales para evaluar compromisos con terceros de riesgo elevado, mejorar la calidad de la debida diligencia, remediar brechas, monitorear mitigaciones de riesgo, realizar revisiones de aseguramiento de calidad y proporcionar recomendaciones basadas en riesgo a la gerencia.

  • Incorporar inteligencia local: trabajar estrechamente con Seguridad, Investigaciones Forenses, Legal, Ética y Cumplimiento, Relaciones Comunitarias, Abastecimiento y otros stakeholders para incorporar inteligencia local relevante en la debida diligencia y en las evaluaciones de riesgo de terceros, incluyendo estructuras de propiedad, redes, conflictos de interés, puntos de contacto con el gobierno, preocupaciones reputacionales y otros indicadores de integridad empresarial.

  • Integrar TPRM de manera proactiva en las actividades de abastecimiento: colaborar con Abastecimiento, responsables de las relaciones con terceros, Ética y Cumplimiento Regional y stakeholders del negocio para identificar compromisos con terceros en etapas tempranas del proceso de abastecimiento, brindar orientación práctica sobre los requisitos de TPRM y los disparadores de debida diligencia, y asegurar que los hallazgos de riesgo sean considerados antes de tomar decisiones de adjudicación.

  • Apoyar la gobernanza de TPRM: contribuir a foros de gobernanza proporcionando perspectivas y recomendaciones de riesgo sobre proveedores de riesgo elevado, gasto comunitario y otros compromisos de alto riesgo, además de apoyar la preparación de materiales de gobernanza y documentos para la toma de decisiones.

  • Brindar supervisión y orientación técnica a analistas de TPRM: proporcionar coaching, priorización y soporte técnico a los analistas de TPRM que apoyan los activos sudamericanos, ayudando a asegurar una calidad consistente en las evaluaciones, prácticas efectivas de escalamiento y alineación con las prioridades regionales. Apoyar evaluaciones complejas y de riesgo elevado de terceros, según sea necesario.

  • Interactuar con terceros seleccionados: trabajar con los equipos Regionales de Ética y Cumplimiento para interactuar con terceros seleccionados, explicar los requisitos de Rio Tinto y apoyar la finalización oportuna de la información y documentación de debida diligencia.

Lo que aportarás

Experiencia y calificaciones esperadas

  • Contar con conocimiento profundo de los riesgos de integridad empresarial en jurisdicciones sudamericanas, en particular Argentina, Chile y Perú.

  • Estar familiarizado/a con plataformas y herramientas de TPRM tales como Sayari, Moody’s Orbis, GRID, Videris/Maxsight y Kumu.

  • Contar con experiencia previa trabajando en inteligencia corporativa o en roles de TPRM en regiones con riesgo elevado de integridad empresarial.

  • Ser una persona proactiva, capaz de trabajar en entornos complejos y multi-jurisdiccionales.

  • Comunicarte de manera clara en inglés y español, tanto de forma oral como escrita, como requisitos centrales del rol.

  • Ser capaz de brindar orientación operativa y táctica creíble a stakeholders del negocio sobre la conveniencia de trabajar con terceros.

  • Contar con título universitario y/o al menos 8 a 12 años de experiencia en ética y cumplimiento y/o gestión de riesgos, inteligencia empresarial y consultoría de riesgos.

  • Idealmente, contar con experiencia previa en corporaciones multinacionales del sector de recursos naturales o servicios financieros.

  • Tener disponibilidad para viajar por trabajo.

We are looking for a Third-Party Risk Manager (TPRM) based in Argentina, to support the business and the Rio Tinto Ethics and Compliance (E&C) team, in particular the TPRM Operations team and Regional Ethics and Compliance team, with implementing and supporting Rio Tinto’s Third Party Risk Management Framework in South America.

Key sites are:

The role supports Rio Tinto's growing lithium portfolio across South America, including but not limited to:

  • Rincon Lithium Project (Salta, Argentina) - Rio Tinto owns and is developing the Rincon lithium project in the Salar del Rincón.

  • Fénix Lithium Operation (Catamarca, Argentina) - One of Argentina's longest-running lithium operations, producing lithium carbonate for global battery supply chains.

  • Sal de Vida Project (Catamarca, Argentina) - A major lithium brine project in Catamarca.

  • Olaroz Lithium Operation (Jujuy, Argentina) - An established lithium brine operation operated through a joint venture.

  • Salares Altoandinos Project (Atacama Region, Chile) - A lithium brine project being developed through a joint venture.

In addition to various Lithium sites, the role would provide TPRM support to significant copper operations and projects in Chile, Peru and Colombia, as well as exploration activities throughout South America.

This is a great opportunity to be recognized as an expert in your own area requiring specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise.

You will be reporting to the General Manager Third-Party Risk Management, based in Australia and will be responsible for implementing Rio Tinto’s Third-Party Risk Management Framework by:

  • Managing and improving due diligence quality: Partner with TPRM Operations and regional stakeholders to assess elevated-risk third-party engagements, improve due diligence quality, remediate gaps, monitor risk mitigations, perform quality assurance reviews, and provide risk-based recommendations to management.

  • Incorporating local intelligence: Work closely with Security, Forensics, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Community Relations, Procurement and other stakeholders to incorporate relevant local intelligence into due diligence and third-party risk assessments, including ownership structures, networks, conflicts of interest, government touchpoints, reputation concerns and other business integrity indicators.

  • Embedding TPRM proactively into sourcing activities: Partner with Procurement, Relationship Owners, Regional Ethics & Compliance and business stakeholders to identify third-party engagements early in the sourcing process, provide practical guidance on TPRM requirements and due diligence triggers, and ensure risk findings are considered before award decisions are made.

  • Supporting TPRM governance: Contribute to governance forums by providing risk insights and recommendations on elevated-risk suppliers, community spend and other high-risk engagements, and support the preparation of governance materials and decision papers.

  • Providing oversight and technical guidance to TPRM analysts: Provide coaching, prioritisation and technical support to TPRM analysts supporting South American assets, helping ensure consistent assessment quality, effective escalation practices and alignment with regional priorities. Support complex and elevated-risk third-party assessments as required.

  • Engaging with selected third parties: Work with Regional Ethics & Compliance teams to engage selected third parties, explain Rio Tinto's requirements and support the timely completion of due diligence information and documentation.

What you’ll bring

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of business integrity risks in South American jurisdictions, in particular, Argentina, Chile and Peru.

  • Be familiar with TPRM platforms and tools such as Sayari, Moody’s Orbis, GRID, Videris/Maxsight and Kumu.

  • Have prior experience working in corporate intelligence or TPRM roles in regions with elevated business integrity risk.

  • Be a self-starter capable of working in complex multi-jurisdictional environments.

  • Be a clear communicator in English and Spanish as core requirements for the role – in spoken and written forms.

  • Be capable of providing credible operational and tactical guidance to business stakeholders on third party desirability.

  • Possess a university degree and/or at least 8-12 years’ experience in ethics and compliance/or risk management, business intelligence and risk consultancy.

  • Ideally possess prior experience in multi-national corporations in resources or financial services.

  • Be willing to travel for work.

Skills Required
