AECOM is seeking a highly talented Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to join the East Region Dams Team. This position will support a variety Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region.  The successful candidate will join the ENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firm and have access to exciting career advancement opportunities.  This position will report to one of the AECOM offices in the East Region including but not limited to Atlanta, Georgia; Buffalo, New York; Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; Germantown, Maryland; or Franklin Tennessee.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist and perform the roles of a Project Manager such as maintaining client relationships, contracting, project planning and execution, financial management, technical management, change management and project team management.
  • Provide technical support for projects including seepage and slope stability analyses, filter and drain design, Potential Failure Mode Analyses, Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessments, site inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic structures. 
  • Prepare and perform quality reviews of other Engineer's work on deliverables such design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects.
  • Responsible for quality control.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Develop engineering proposals.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Civil Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency and/or education. 
  • Solid experience with dams and other hydraulic structures, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • Experience in relevant geotechnical engineering software programs such as GeoStudio and gINT.
  • Ability and desire to occasionally travel to project sites, both local and remote.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Project experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers.
