We are looking for a talented GEOS ISO 17025 Strategy Leader to join our team specializing in Engineering in Columbus, IN. 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:  

  • Influence high-impact, cross-functional decisions by synthesizing stakeholder input into clear, data-driven recommendations that guide design, feasibility, and system architecture.
  • Set direction for projects by using systems expertise to define medium-term goals, align teams, and ensure consistent technical progress across analysis, testing, and execution.
  • Lead and optimize engineering processes (PPP, PPT, VPI/VPC, ESW, FEP, ALD&V) to improve quality, speed, and consistency across programs and business units.
  • Leverage advanced thermal and fluid science tools (e.g., GT-Suite, Fluent, Converge, CDAT) to generate insights that directly improve product performance, emissions, and reliability.
  • Provide leadership in resolving complex, ambiguous system issues with potential global impact, ensuring robust, scalable solutions.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness by leading cross-functional and cross-business unit process improvements that enhance engineering capability and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and lead technical teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and efficient execution while developing team capability.
  • Act as a recognized technical expert and mentor, building organizational strength through coaching, knowledge sharing, and potential collaboration with industry and academic partners.
Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:  

  • Build deep technical expertise in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics to confidently predict system behavior and guide high-impact engineering decisions.
  • Leverage modeling, simulation, and analytical tools to generate insights that influence design, optimize performance, and reduce risk across systems.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate failure modes by understanding system interactions, ensuring strong reliability and robust product performance.
  • Apply structured, data-driven problem solving to resolve complex issues, eliminate root causes, and implement sustainable solutions that protect the customer.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into clear, traceable system requirements and manage them throughout the lifecycle to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
  • Demonstrate strong systems thinking by understanding interactions across components, controls, and environments to drive optimized, end-to-end solutions.
  • Navigate ambiguity and complexity by making sound, timely decisions with incomplete information while maintaining focus on outcomes and project progress.
  • Collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and build strong networks while continuously improving processes and fostering innovation through diverse perspectives.

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required. 
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles. 
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 
     

Experience: 

  • Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s). 
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
Qualifications

Additional Information: 

  • Individual contributor role created as part of a business strategic initiative to standardize the global lab quality foundation that supports the overall emissions strategy. The role is not intended to require deep emissions-specific program knowledge; it aligns to emissions strategy by improving lab accreditation decisions, measurement quality, operating consistency, uptime, and future capability planning.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the global ISO 17025 accreditation strategy and governance model.
  • Determine which labs should pursue, maintain, or avoid ISO 17025 accreditation based on business value, customer or compliance need, cost, time, and strategic benefit.
  • Build and maintain a global accreditation roadmap and lab footprint view.
  • Partner with lab leaders for current and future accreditation efforts, including CTC Airflow Lab, LDTC / Light Duty Tech Center, and future lab opportunities.
  • Work with A2LA and other accrediting bodies as needed to support accreditation readiness, audits, corrective actions, and maintenance.
  • Lead global Measurement Uncertainty Analysis governance, including common methods, tools, budget development, review expectations, and training.
  • Mentor engineers and lab teams in measurement uncertainty concepts and practical budget development.
  • Support emissions strategy by strengthening the lab foundation that enables reliable data, reduced downtime, improved efficiency, and future capability readiness.
  • Today, this work is managed locally by individual labs, lab leaders, quality resources, and project teams without one dedicated global owner. This role creates a single point of strategic leadership and standardization.

Minimum qualifications/experience/knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, quality, metrology, laboratory sciences, or related technical field; advanced degree beneficial or 2-year associate degree in engineering, technology, quality, metrology, laboratory sciences, or related technical field and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong technical fundamentals in laboratory measurement systems, calibration, airflow/fluid systems, test systems, thermodynamics, or related measurement disciplines.
  • Significant experience with ISO 17025 accreditation requirements, lab quality systems, audit readiness, corrective actions, and accreditation maintenance.
  • Practical experience building, reviewing, or teaching measurement uncertainty budgets.
  • Ability to develop governance frameworks, standard work, technical training, and decision criteria across multiple labs.
  • Strong communication and influence skills across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and translate complex technical concepts into practical application.
  • ISO 17025 auditor experience is strongly preferred/beneficial.
  • Emissions lab experience is beneficial but not required; the role supports the emissions strategy through lab quality, measurement confidence, uptime, and capability planning.
