As our new Geophysical Research Engineer, you will play a key role in researching and developing geophysical and geotechnical investigation techniques. The Role 

We are seeking a Geophysical Research Engineer to conduct research and development for near-surface geophysics. This role involves developing and improving processing, velocity model building, imaging, and advanced data analysis techniques, including machine-learning, to accurately characterize the shallow subsurface in land and marine environments.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and implement advanced processing, velocity model building, imaging, and data analysis techniques for geophysical and geotechnical applications.  

• Collect data from experiments and simulations, conduct analysis and maintain accurate records of research activities. 

• Create research reports, papers, and presentations for internal and external dissemination. 

• Ensure alignment with project planning and goals. 

• Work closely with other scientists and engineers and business stakeholders. 

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in academic research in this field.   

• Maintain and optimize existing geophysical processing code to ensure performance, scalability, and relevance to ongoing and future projects. 

Desired Skills and Qualifications 

• You have an MSc or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, Computational Science or similar.  

• You have a strong background in mathematics, (Geo)Physics and/or Geotechnics.  

• You have proficiency in programming languages as C/C++, Python, Matlab. 

• It is considered an advantage if you are familiar with COMSOL or any equivalent Multiphysics simulation software.  

• You can work collaboratively in a team, but also independently.  

• You have strong communication skills to interact with technical stakeholders. 

• Two years or more of industry experience is considered a plus.
