General Counsel

We are looking for a legal professional with strong contract management and negotiation expertise to support global purchasing activities. In this role, you will partner with suppliers, business stakeholders, and legal teams to review, negotiate, and manage purchasing agreements while helping the business navigate contractual, commercial, and legal risks. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to international projects, drive successful negotiations, and support strategic supply chain initiatives in a collaborative global environment. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Review, draft, and negotiate purchasing agreements and transaction documents in line with applicable policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards, seeking supervision when appropriate.
• Respond to supplier contract requests and proposed terms within established guidelines.
• Draft and negotiate contractual provisions that balance business objectives with legal and policy requirements.
• Serve as Contracts Lead for less complex international, multi-business-unit projects and framework agreements.
• Gradually assume responsibility for more complex projects, master agreements, and strategic framework contracts as experience in the role grows.
• Identify and assess legal, commercial, financial, and contractual risks, escalating issues when necessary
• Guide business stakeholders through the contract approval process, supporting informed decisions and obtaining required approvals.
• Partner with suppliers, Legal, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient negotiations and successful contract execution.
• Provide contract-related guidance and support to Supply Chain, Project Management, and other business functions.
• Research existing contractual arrangements, support related analyses, and prepare information for reporting purposes.
• Utilize contract lifecycle management systems, including Oracle CLM and DocuSign CLM.
• Support the development, maintenance, and improvement of contract templates, as well as standard purchasing terms and conditions.
• Conduct legal research and provide legal interpretation and guidance on applicable laws and regulations.
• Contribute to global Legal and Supply Chain initiatives.

You are a skilled negotiator who can balance legal protection with commercial priorities, and you collaborate effectively across functions including Legal, Risk Management, Finance, Tax, Audit, International Trade Compliance, Supply Chain, and Project Management. You are also committed to continuous learning and professional growth, embracing opportunities to expand your responsibilities and expertise.
 

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Law degree.
• Current license to practice law, where applicable.
• Minimum four years of experience in a contracts-related role.
• Strong understanding of contract law and contractual principles.
• Solid knowledge of commercial terms and provisions, including warranties, liquidated damages, penalties, payment and freight terms, documentary credits, and bank guarantees or sureties.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; additional languages are considered an advantage.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, service providers, external counsel, and other third parties.
   

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills.
• Completion of the IACCM Advanced Contract and Commercial Management Practitioner program.
• Completion of the IACCM Oil & Gas Contracting in Practice program.
• Experience working with contract lifecycle management platforms such as Oracle CLM or DocuSign CLM.
• Experience supporting international and multi-business-unit projects and framework agreements.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and maintaining contract templates and standard purchasing terms and conditions.
