General Counsel

Eftsure is a fast-scaling SaaS fraud prevention technology company protecting businesses from B2B payment fraud through real-time vendor verification and payment protection.

As cybercrime and payment fraud continue to evolve, Eftsure provides businesses with a critical control designed to help ensure they never pay the wrong people. We are growing globally across the United States, Australia and Europe – and with that growth comes increasing legal, regulatory, risk and governance complexity.

We are now looking for an experienced General Counsel to join our Executive Leadership Team and help protect and enable Eftsure through our next stage of global growth.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Counsel will be Eftsure's senior legal leader globally, responsible for providing strategic legal counsel to the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team while overseeing our broader Legal, Risk and Compliance functions.

This is a highly commercial leadership role for someone who can operate comfortably at Board level while remaining close enough to the business to help teams move quickly.

You'll advise across corporate and commercial law, technology and SaaS contracts, privacy and data protection, regulatory compliance, employment matters, intellectual property, M&A and corporate governance. Just as importantly, you'll help Eftsure navigate risk pragmatically – protecting the business without unnecessarily slowing it down.

• Act as a trusted legal and strategic advisor to the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team.

• Lead Eftsure's Legal, Risk and Compliance functions across the United States, APAC and Europe.

• Provide practical commercial advice across corporate and commercial law, technology contracts, partnerships, privacy and data protection, employment law, intellectual property and other matters affecting the business.

• Review, draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including customer, software licensing, vendor, employment and confidentiality agreements.

• Own Eftsure's approach to legal and regulatory risk, ensuring appropriate frameworks, policies and controls are embedded across the organisation.

• Keep the Executive Leadership Team and Board ahead of emerging legislation and regulatory developments across the jurisdictions in which Eftsure operates.

• Lead and support M&A and other corporate transactions, including due diligence, deal structuring and post-transaction integration.

• Support Board and corporate governance activities, including Board materials, resolutions and corporate secretarial requirements.

• Oversee data privacy, cybersecurity and broader legal and regulatory compliance.

• Manage litigation, disputes and claims and oversee relationships with external counsel.

• Build scalable legal infrastructure, including contract templates, negotiation playbooks, workflows and processes that support Eftsure's continued growth.

We're looking for an established senior legal leader who combines exceptional legal judgement with strong commercial instincts.

You'll ideally bring:

• A Juris Doctor (JD), or regional equivalent, from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one US state bar. California, Texas, New York or Florida admission is preferred.

• 15+ years' post-qualification legal experience, including significant in-house experience, ideally within SaaS, fintech or technology.

• Previous experience as a General Counsel or senior legal leader, with experience leading both senior and junior legal professionals.

• Experience operating within a scaling, venture-backed or PE-backed global technology business.

• Strong experience across commercial contracting, corporate law, privacy, data protection and cybersecurity.

• Experience advising a Board and senior executives on complex legal, governance and risk matters.

• Experience supporting M&A and corporate transactions.

• The ability to operate effectively across multiple jurisdictions, particularly the United States, APAC and Europe.

• Exposure to frameworks such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 is highly regarded.

• Fluency in another language, particularly French, is advantageous but not required.

You're commercially minded and know that great in-house legal advice isn't simply about identifying risk – it's about helping the business understand that risk and make good decisions.

You'll be comfortable moving between a Board-level conversation and the practical detail of a commercial negotiation. You can simplify complex legal issues for non-legal audiences, anticipate issues before they become problems and make sound decisions in an environment that is growing quickly.

You'll also bring the credibility and leadership capability to influence senior stakeholders globally, alongside the autonomy and adaptability required in a fast-paced scale-up environment.

This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely global General Counsel mandate at an important point in Eftsure's growth.

You'll have direct access to the CEO and Board, lead legal and risk strategy across multiple international markets, and have the opportunity to build the frameworks, capability and infrastructure that will support Eftsure as we continue to scale.
