Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?
Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
As a GenAI Product Builder, you’ll embed directly with Tempus teams — from health systems to life science organizations to internal operations— to help them identify real problems and solve them using agentic GenAI solutions. This is a hybrid role spanning product management, product design and hands-on implementation. You’ll help customers imagine what’s possible with GenAI, prototype it, and make it real.
You will:
Partner with customer and business leaders to uncover high-impact use cases where GenAI can deliver measurable value.
Through customer research, problem discovery and systems thinking, you’ll translate vague operational challenges into clear, functional solutions
Build rapid prototypes / proof-of-concepts to validate ideas and drive alignment
Design and implement agent-based solutions — from workflow automation to patient communication, insight generation, or clinical operations
Work directly with LLMs and agent frameworks (prompt design, chaining, context management, evaluation, and guardrails)
Lead moderate-to-full implementations in collaboration with customer teams and/or internal engineers
Serve as a technical and strategic bridge to our Tempus OS and other platform teams — shaping their roadmap through real-world feedback
Train business users, power users, and internal champions on interacting with deployed agentic solutions.
Key Qualifications
2+ years of experience in a hybrid role intersecting product management / ownership and hands-on software or AI engineering
Hands-on experience building or deploying GenAI applications (agents, chat interfaces, or LLM-driven workflows)
Strong software engineering skills (using Python, JavaScript or similar) and familiarity with APIs, webhooks, integration patterns, data pipelines
Experience and proven track record applying skills in systems thinking, domain modeling, problem discovery and user research in service of a product solution
Experience designing or building prototype-to-production AI solutions (not just proof-of-concepts) — including observability, A/B testing, error-handling, scaling
Practical experience working with LLMs, agentic frameworks, prompt engineering, evaluation metrics, and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, Codex)
Excellent communication and storytelling skills — able to interface with both clinicians and engineers
Proven ability to drive projects from discovery through delivery, balancing experimentation and execution
Strong bias for action with a background in rapid prototyping, user research, and scaling products under a robust operational model
The GenAI Product Builder plays a critical role in our mission: turning the promise of generative AI into working, responsible, and scalable systems that make a difference in patients’ lives.
