Gas Scheduling & Confirmations Analyst
We are looking to hire someone to work in either our Columbus, Ohio or Hammond, Indiana office with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in office, moving to 3 days/week in September)
We are open to hire at the Senior or Lead Analyst level, depending on experience (salary band and job requirements listed are for Analyst level)
Shift start time is 6:30am and will require some weekend and holiday work (on call rotation)
Job Summary
The Gas Scheduling & Confirmations Analyst within Energy Supply and Optimization ("ES&O") will have the primary responsibility of efficiently and accurately nominating system supply gas, confirming transportation customer supply (GTS and Choice) and reconciling volumes of natural gas purchases, transportation, and storage for all NiSource LDC's. Support capacity asset optimization and management including capacity release activity. An analyst will collaborate within ES&O on a regular basis to provide input into portfolio optimization and to ensure that all operational needs are met in support of the company's goal to provide safe, reliable service. A Gas Scheduling & Confirmations Analyst provides services to both internal and external customers or their agents, works collaboratively, and maintains good communication and relationships with all parties.
Essential Functions
Nominates gas transportation on interstate pipelines and/or storage facilities in compliance with contract provisions, and the pipelines or storage operators’ tariff to maintain balance of supply and demand, providing economic, reliable service to customers while optimizing the revenue and other related benefits derived from LDC incentive programs.
Reviews and analyzes daily city-gate nominations for system supply, transportation customers, pool operators and Choice Suppliers and confirms volumes with the upstream pipelines. Additionally, manages banks and balancing services for on-system transportation customers.
Manages Renewable Natural Gas “RNG” nominations and production.
Verifies and balances nominations, storage inventories and pipeline imbalances for data accuracy.
Manages capacity release offers on pipeline and storage websites associated with transportation and storage allocations to Choice/SCO Suppliers, asset management arrangements, and marketed capacity release.
Prepares monthly accounting close documentation for volume reconciliations and storage inventories and assists with reconciling discrepancies on monthly transportation or storage payable invoices.
Provides monthly closing information to GTS Billing and/or NIPSCO Industrial Billing for use in billing GTS and Choice Suppliers.
Maintains data and integrity of GasSource, Aviator, EASy and Energy Access Online (“EAO”) to reduce the risk of inaccuracies. Interacts with IT support teams including system data fixes and system enhancements.
Covers weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
Supports functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence
Participates in non-recurring ad hoc projects as needed, other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications For Position
High School Diploma
Knowledge of, and proven experience with nominations
Strong analytical and strategic-thinking/planning abilities
Proven ability to identify, create and implement new processes, or process improvements
Knowledge of Local Distribution Companies and pipeline tariffs
Strong problem solving and decision making skills

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience
1-3 years Relevant work experience

Salary Range*:
$67,900.00 - $101,900.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
