Graduate Assistant Research College of BusinessIMPORTANT:
Graduate Assistants cannot hold a Student Worker or any other hourly position while employed as a Graduate Assistant. However, a Graduate Assistant may work in multiple departments as a GA, as long as the combined hours do not exceed 20 hours per week. Graduate Assistants are not permitted to work during breaks or interim periods and may not begin work before the semester officially begins. Hourly rates are determined by the Provost’s Office and vary depending on whether the student is enrolled in a master's or doctoral program.
Salary: $4K a semester
SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant – Research supports faculty in the development, execution, and dissemination of academic research projects. This position offers graduate students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the research process while strengthening essential skills such as time management, academic writing, data analysis, critical thinking, and communication. The role contributes to advancing faculty research efforts while providing students with practical experience that supports academic and career growth.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide support for the completion of faculty-led research projects within the department
- Assist faculty with conducting literature reviews, collecting and entering data, and compiling research findings
- Contribute to the preparation of academic presentations and conference materials
- Attend and support faculty research presentations and events, as needed
- Assist in the drafting and editing of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
- Support the electronic or physical submission of research articles and proposals
- Assist with the development of research grant proposals and related documentation
- Maintain organized records of research activities, references, and data
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure deadlines and research milestones are met
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Must be an active graduate-level student at East Texas A&M University
- Knowledge / Skills: Must be punctual and possess strong computer skills. (Including programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to: Multitask and work cooperatively with others. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred field of study related to the College of Business
- Prior administrative or office-related experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with customer service or project coordination
