Purpose

The Northern Hemisphere (NH) Technology Support team supports NAB’s Global FX and Commodities trading business. It is a multi-discipline team which provides support across multiple applications 24/5.5, as well as designing, developing and testing technology solutions.

The banks in-house sales and distribution platform and the risk capture platform, processes all executed client facing transactions for pricing, credit risk management, transaction notifications, post trade processing, reporting and settlement all of which requires extreme diligence as failure can result in financial and / or reputational impacts to the bank.

The applications are deployed to physically distributed data centres across numerous locations across the globe and with the infrastructure managed by various 3rd party providers.

The Support Engineer provides a single point of contact for all FX & Commodities functional and technology related support incidents and requests from Front Office, Market Risk, Product Control and Operations. There will be an increasing expectation to be involved in delivery initiatives, monitoring and automation improvements.

We are looking to hire an experienced Support Engineer, with over 5 years of experience in the financial services sector, who can support the technology platforms with a desire to expand their skills into the technical scope as well as functional product knowledge as the role is expected to face into business users and contribute to small and medium business change deliverables. The candidate will have proven track record with the tools used to provide first line support and have a good working knowledge of financial products.

Capabilities Requirements

Essential capabilities

Understand the connectivity between microservice applications to be able to assess impact during incidents.

Strong understanding of how to health check and restart platform services.

Strong ability to search for and interrogate multiple log files.

Knowledge to configure monitoring tools to create relevant alerts from application, system, network, and security logs.

Understanding of database relational tables to troubleshoot report generation.

Intermediate technical understating of multiple OS environments (Unix, Linux, Windows, Solaris) and DB environments (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).

Intermediate ability to support multiple cloud based (AWS and Azure) applications and operating systems including Kubernetes.

Understanding of messaging standards and protocols: FIX, XML, MQ, Kafka etc.

Intermediate understanding of the FX electronic space including pricing distribution channels, liquidity providers, pricing aggregation tool, execution platforms and client connectivity.

Strong functional and technical knowledge of risk management systems to support the application from Front to Back.

Troubleshoot trade level PnL, workflows issues, market data, accounting, confirmations and payments.

Excellent communication and documentation skills to accurately capture support incidents and end user requests.

Basic experience in developing and delivering software following an agile delivery approach.

Other capabilities

Working knowledge across FX, Commodities, IRD, Fixed Income, Bonds and Equities products and the associated hedging instruments will be highly beneficial.

Working knowledge of risk management systems (Kapiti, Murex, Calypso).

Effectively sharing knowledge with team members.

Basic knowledge of tickdb (KDB+ or others).
