The Role

About this role

The Fund Accounting Oversight (FAO) team is in the Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) division within Technology & Operations. FAO coordinates accounting service providers for BlackRock’s AMRS/EMEA portfolios, iShares, and Bitcoin CIFs, providing strategic product assistance to other BlackRock teams. 

Role Responsibilities: 

 The Associate will contribute to Fund and Product Operations, covering fund accounting and valuation oversight, portfolio and product data management, regulatory and product compliance, new fund and share class launches, regulatory cost analysis, and quality control work. 

Within FAO, the team produces daily IBOR accounting valuations and portfolio returns to support BlackRock’s fund businesses across all investment mandates, including Equity, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset Solutions, Fund of Funds, and Alternatives. The team partners with custodians, counterparties, accounting providers, and internal teams to address operational, valuation, accounting, and regulatory issues including supporting EMEA regulatory requirements applicable to investment funds and products including UCITS, MiFID ||, PRIIPS/ KID, AIFMD, SFDR and other applicable country specific fund, product and disclosure requirements.  We are a team that values problem solving and enjoys creating innovative solutions. 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct tasks including reconciliation oversight, review of fund performance against benchmarks and oversight of fund expenses. 

  • Support new fund and share class launches, including product, regulatory, operational and fee requirements 

  • Perform quality control checks on regulatory costs, product data, regulatory disclosures and other applicable MiFID/ PRIIPs data ensuring consistency against approved source documents 

  • Work closely with upstream teams such as Cash reconciliation, Trade operations, Data Integrity Groups and Portfolio managers to ensure accuracy of the job's remit; 

  • Coordinate with product, regulatory, compliance, operations and other stakeholders to resolve data discrepancies, support regulatory updates and ensure timely completion of required regulatory activities for new and existing products. 

  • Lead all aspects of the preparation and review of holdings/market value reconciliations using Aladdin technology to reconcile positions, prices, market value and accruals; 

  • Identify trends, cost drivers, discrepancies and  

  • Coordinate the re-engineering of BlackRock’s operating environment and participate in various automation projects to enhance productivity and controls; 

  • Involved in the training process of newly hired professionals and interns, as well as testing and implementation of the straight-thru-processing research and reconciliation tools; 

Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree experience preferred.

  • 4-8 years of experience in investment products, reporting within a financial services environment. 

  •  Proven experience in performance measurement, fund accounting and/or operations; 

  • Excellent organization, communication and writing skills. 

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Good knowledge of MS excel with working knowledge of SQL and VBA desirable. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, technologies and processes with a strong aptitude for data analysis and problem solving. 

  • Works well in a team environment with an entrepreneurial spirit that is willing to build on additional responsibilities quickly; 

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, with excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills.
