Externally, the Team collaborates with clients to deliver innovative data solutions, and customized reporting requirements. Job Description
A Fund Accounting Data Analyst is responsible for observing, documenting, and leveraging technology to improve processes across the various business units. A successful candidate will be able to learn about the financial services and hedge fund industry, in addition to the application of technology and programming within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage, improve, and automate internal manual operational processes used by business teams.
- Leverage applicable technologies through the development of python scripts and other technological innovations.
- Apply new technologies to develop solutions to new problems as they arise, while continually addressing current issues.
- Produce clean and efficient code based on given specifications.
- Build and maintain reconciliations between various financial sources and datasets.
- Develop and implement ETL processes from diverse sources into our accounting and reporting systems.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing scripts.
- Testing of the product in controlled, real-world situations before deploying to production.
- Identifying, rectifying, and streamlining inefficiencies and at-risk processes in current systems by coordinating with internal stakeholders
- Take ownership of special projects on an as-needed basis and deliver them in a short turn-around.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in data analysis and financial services to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Communicate and work closely with internal Operations and Technology teams.
Job Requirements for the role:
Education:
- Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or another related field, with coding experience.
Experience:
- Fund Administration or related finance experience.
- Experience with Python.
- Strong excel skills. VBA knowledge desirable but not necessary.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate large datasets using Pandas, NumPy, SQL or other relevant tools.
- Ability to appropriately document code and other developments.
Personal skills:
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with an ability to multi-task, and work well in a team environment.
- Must be organized and flexible to work well with frequent priority changes.
- Must be able to self-start and work independently
