UL Solutions is engaged Functional Safety and manages the development, review or audit/assessment of safety work products for clients seeking compliance to standards in functional safety and related fields, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC/EN 62061, ISO 61511, ISO 21448, UL 4600, ISO 13849, and other similar standards relevant to systems- and software- engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development, or review, or audit/assessment of safety work products and safety management processes for clients seeking compliance to standards in functional safety and related fields, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC/EN 62061, ISO 61511, ISO 21448, UL 4600, ISO 13849, and other similar standards relevant to systems- and software- engineering.
  • Employ established methods and frameworks, relevant to functional safety and related fields, to lead the engineering development or review, or audit/assessment of safety cases for complex software-intensive systems.
  • Methods and frameworks may include safety analysis such as FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, safety requirements management, safety concepts such as FSC/TSC work products, system and software architectures, HIL and SIL test, system integration test, vehicle integration test, and system/vehicle validation.
  • Lead full training events in topics relevant to functional safety and related fields, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC/EN 62061, ISO 61511, ISO 21448, UL 4600, ISO 13849, and other similar standards.
  • Contribute to mentorship and development of junior-level engineering personnel.
  • Lead business development activities defining Statements of Work (SOWs) and providing budgetary estimates for client proposal development
  • Lead client programs by interacting regularly with clients in technical program meetings and project reviews.
  • Address client concerns and to resolve client issues.
  • Provide expert technical leadership and guidance to clients in reference to functional safety and related technical fields.
  • Represent UL at industry related functions such as seminars and trade shows..
  • Contribute to the development of UL technical standards and other relevant technical standards (from ISO, IEC, IEEE, SAE, etc. ).
  • Coordinates complex laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians and by establishing completion dates.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree in Electrical or Information Technology Engineering, Engineering/Industrial Technology
  • Strong mindset and understanding of Functional Safety
  • Good knowledge of Standards Conformity applicable to Functional Safety and Cybersecurity of electrical/ electronical programmable systems according to ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 13849 (and other similar standards).
  • 2+ years of experience in the area of Functional Safety, Robotics, Automotive Functional Safety, Testing and Certification, Research and Development or similar
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of functional safety practices and principles of functional safety assurance, hazard & risk assessment
  • Experience in project- and stakeholder management as well as in developing project-handling concepts
  • Willingness to travel to customers and other UL locations
  • Very good communication skills in Germany and English are mandatory
