ABB has a regional IS organization to drive standardization and harmonization of solutions and to ensure delivery of high quality IS services for ABB business units within the region, by bringing significant focus on business value driven innovation and delivery as core competencies. As an IS Functional Analyst in the

ABB IS organization, you will have the opportunity to work in a high-paced, international environment, solve complex problems, participate in building our IS solution capability and grow together with the rapidly developing business.

The IS Functional Analyst would be responsible to perform various ABB business analyses to support decisions regarding IS solutions; under supervision creates/assists the appropriate Business Blueprint; functionally define solutions fulfilling customer requirements leveraging best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and document business requirements to create functional specifications for IS solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Develop and maintain Business Blueprints (detailed process descriptions and requirements documents) to ensure clarity and consistency across projects.
  • Collaborate with IS Service Managers, Solution Architects, and Business Engagement Managers to design and implement effective solutions that deliver measurable business value.
  • Support implementation and optimization of IS services, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of applications and processes.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned applications and processes, providing technical and functional guidance to internal teams and external partners.
  • Assist in usability improvements, conduct user research, and provide recommendations to enhance user experience and system efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with ABB IS standards, architecture, and security guidelines, maintaining alignment with enterprise architecture and application roadmaps.
  • Participate in incident resolution and change management, offering functional verification, prioritization of requests, and escalation when necessary.
  • Monitor upcoming demand and contribute to planning for future IS service needs, ensuring readiness for new projects and enhancements.
  • Provide consultation and support for new IS solutions or modifications to existing services, ensuring smooth integration and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies and industry best practices, evaluating their potential application to ABB’s business needs.
  • Communicate progress and updates effectively to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the solution lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Systems, Business Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of IS experience in relevant technologies and domains, with proven ability to deliver functional analysis and solution design.
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into IS solutions and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding of business processes, data flows, and IS technologies.
  • Experience in project planning, execution, and lifecycle management, including cost and resource considerations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools (SharePoint, O365, SQL, PowerPlatform) and web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with API management, integration capabilities, and low-code platforms.
  • Advanced SharePoint design and development experience (workflows, Infopath, Nintex) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and security vulnerability management.
  • Exposure to mobile applications and third-party software integration (e.g., Concur, Primavera).
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and ability to assess their impact on business needs.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
