ResponsibilitiesIdeate, design, and build scalable security platform features and microservices in Java, Go, and JavaScript/Node to enhance Yahoo's resilience against threat actors.
Leverage Yahoo approved AI development tools to accelerate code implementation, write comprehensive unit/functional tests, and refactor security infrastructure.
Apply AI-driven diagnostics and automated static analysis to triage open-source vulnerability reports, remediate security flaws, and streamline routine code maintenance.
Critically evaluate and validate AI-generated code outputs and test cases to ensure strict compliance with Yahoo security standards, performance benchmarks, and memory safety.
Deliver clean, performant, and production-ready code with minimal guidance while actively participating in code reviews, technical planning, and agile story estimation.
Troubleshoot complex software failures and operational issues across distributed Linux and public cloud environments (AWS/GCP), conducting root-cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
Proactively identify manual engineering friction points and implement AI-assisted workflows or automation scripts to scale platform operations.
Collaborate closely with security architects, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate defined technical security requirements into reliable operational solutions.
Basic Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience confirmed for background check requirements).
5+ years of hands-on software development experience building scalable applications or platform services.
Primary technical proficiency in Java, with secondary experience in Go and/or JavaScript/Node.
Proven experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to accelerate software feature implementation, testing, or debugging workflows.
Core understanding of object-oriented design, distributed systems, networking fundamentals, web service APIs, and UNIX/Linux environments.
Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP) and relational databases (SQL).
Practical knowledge of web and network security concepts, including open-source vulnerability remediation.
Focus on operational excellence, software quality, and security engineering impact within a collaborative agile squad.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with containerized applications and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker.
Working knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) concepts, including Certificate Authorities (CA), x.509 certificates, PKCS, and Security Token Services (STS).
Frontend engineering experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React) for building internal web interfaces with cross-browser compatibility.
Experience with cross-platform development across CPU architectures (x86_64, ARM64/Graviton), Linux distributions (RHEL 8+, AlmaLinux, Amazon Linux 2023), and cloud cost optimization initiatives.
Interest or experience in building custom AI prompts, agents, or automated workflows for security engineering and vulnerability management.

The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 - $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
