The Role

At ActiveCampaign, we're rapidly becoming a leading WhatsApp-based CRM, Marketing, and automation platform. To achieve this, we're seeking a Senior Full Stack - AI Engineer to help our customers leverage the power of AI in their WhatsApp conversations to achieve their goals.

Your mission is to be a builder and tinkerer at heart. You'll view new LLMs and model releases not just as new tools, but as opportunities to create even more compelling applications. You'll be the AI evangelist for our team, pushing us to craft a world-class experience that seamlessly blends AI, automation, and WhatsApp. This is an opportunity to build, test, and deploy AI at scale while making it simple for non-technical users and ensuring they can achieve their goals.

On a typical day, you might:

Design and build a more user-friendly experience for our AI agents within WhatsApp automations, making it simple to add AI steps to our flow builder while managing complex factors like memory, goals, and hallucinations.
Push the envelope on what's possible with conversational automation and AI, enabling users to create natural-feeling WhatsApp conversations that also include structured data requirements.
Create infrastructure and tooling that allows our users to inspect, test, and iterate on their AI agents.
Mentor and guide the rest of the team in designing and developing AI agents, helping us build a world-class, AI-first product.
Collaborate closely with product, sales, and support teams to deeply understand user needs and rapidly implement and iterate on product changes to bring those goals closer to reality.

What You'll Need

A passion for building and a track record of creating at least a couple of AI-first or AI-only platforms or chatbots.
5+ years of experience in full-stack positions to ensure you can productize the solutions you build.
Experience with object-oriented languages (primarily Python with Django), front-end languages (including Typescript, React, and Tailwind), and data stores (including PostgreSQL and Redis).
Experience developing SaaS systems using REST APIs, microservices on Kubernetes, and integrations with third-party software.
A "startup mindset" with a bias for shipping an MVP quickly and iterating on it rather than waiting for a perfect solution.
A commitment to quality and a strong desire to test thoroughly and respond quickly to customer feedback.
Experience with tools like Gitlab, Vault, Grafana, Sentry, Datadog, K8s, and AWS.
An ability to work with market-leading models, as you will be productizing them rather than training your own.
The ability to get up to speed quickly and a self-motivated, driven attitude.

Compensation:
