About your team
Enterprise Platforms – Canada Services provides technology delivery, engineering and operational support to Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC). The team partners closely with FCC Technology, Product, Business and Operations to deliver, maintain and modernize business-critical platforms and services for external clients and internal business lines.
About your role
As Senior Technical Consultant, you will continue to provide senior technical leadership for the FCC core development capability while working as part of Enterprise Platforms – Canada Services. You will use your deep knowledge of FCC applications, business processes and technology landscape to guide the design, development, maintenance, production support and modernization of business-critical services. You will work closely with Technical Architecture, Product, Business, Operations, Information Security, engineering and vendor teams across FCC and FIL, providing technical direction and helping coordinate delivery priorities, dependencies and operational readiness. The role covers back-end development, secure APIs and integrations, complex data processing, enterprise job scheduling, release and Level 3 production support, application currency and technical debt reduction. You will also support engineering standards, delivery planning, knowledge transfer and mentoring, while promoting responsible use of AI-enabled development tools to improve engineering quality and productivity.
What you will do
• Provide senior technical leadership for FCC core application development, enhancement, maintenance and modernization, aligned with business objectives, operational priorities and client commitments.
• Coordinate delivery across architecture, product, business, operations, information security, engineering and vendor teams, identifying dependencies, technical risks and implementation considerations.
• Guide back-end engineering across Java REST services, complex SQL and database design, RESTful API integrations, microservices/service-oriented architecture, event-driven messaging and secure integration patterns.
• Provide technical oversight for releases, deployments, application upgrades, Level 3 production support, incident response, root-cause analysis and defect remediation.
• Support complex Control-M scheduling and data-processing workflows, including batch orchestration, dependencies, monitoring, recovery, start-of-day loading, extraction, reporting, reconciliation and file-based integrations.
• Drive application currency, technical debt reduction, reliability improvement and modernization, including legacy and end-of-life technology remediation.
• Promote strong engineering practices covering testing, automation, CI/CD, secure coding, operational readiness and post-implementation review.
• Provide technical estimation, delivery planning and clear communication of status, risks, dependencies and production priorities to Canada Services and FCC leadership.
• Mentor engineers and Team Leads, share critical FCC domain and application knowledge, and strengthen knowledge continuity between FCC and FIL teams.
• Identify opportunities to use AI-enabled engineering tools responsibly for code understanding, development, testing, code review and engineering productivity.
About you
You bring extensive software engineering and technical leadership experience in complex financial-services environments, with strong depth across Java REST services, SQL and database design, secure APIs and integrations, microservices/service-oriented architecture, enterprise data processing and UNIX-based automation. You have hands-on knowledge of supporting business-critical applications, Level 3 production support, releases, incident and root-cause management, and modernization. You are experienced with Agile delivery, CI/CD, secure SDLC practices and enterprise scheduling platforms such as Control-M, including batch dependencies, monitoring and recovery. You can guide technical decisions, coordinate delivery across distributed teams, mentor engineers, manage competing priorities and work effectively with business, technology and vendor stakeholders.
