The Role
Build and own web application features across the full software development lifecycle, from understanding customer needs through design, implementation, testing, release, and validation. Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, engineers, and external stakeholders. Develop user experiences with TypeScript, React, React Router, HTML, and SCSS, while improving application quality, performance, and reliability and using AI tools to support engineering productivity.
Summary Generated by Built In
Instrumental technology is used by the world’s most admired electronics brands, such as NVIDIA, Cisco, and Meta, to accelerate new product development and improve production yields. Our technology leverages AI to process data generated on the manufacturing floor, automating failure identification and resolution, improving yield, quality, and time-to-market. In the past few quarters, our technology has become mission-critical for AI server manufacturers. We’re rapidly growing our global presence to enable deeper integrations into our customers’ complex manufacturing environments.
As a Front End Product Engineer, you’ll build and improve features across our Application stack. We deeply respect great talent, and that respect shows up in how we treat people early in their careers: your ideas get heard in technical discussions, your judgment is taken seriously, and you’re given problems that matter to customers. Responsibility here is earned through how you work. We pay attention to the engineer who digs into what users actually need, raises a risk before it becomes a problem, proposes practical next steps, and finishes what they start. Those habits are what open the door to owning features end to end, from the first user conversation through design, build, and release.
Along the way, Product, Customer Success, and fellow engineers will give you honest feedback and help you think through hard problems, and knowing when to ask for help is one of the signals of good judgment we look for. Early-career engineers who bring that combination of curiosity and follow-through often find themselves trusted with work they didn’t expect to touch for years. We encourage folks who see themselves in this description to apply!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own the full software development lifecycle for application features from understanding user needs, through design, implementation, testing, release, and validation.
- Partner with Product, Customer Success, and external stakeholders to understand workflows, gather feedback, and shape features that solve real problems.
- Build and improve Application user experiences using TypeScript, React, React Router, HTML, and SCSS.
- Work with engineers and technical leads to get feedback on design and implementation, and contribute across the Application stack as priorities require.
- Take responsibility for the quality of features in production by validating your work, investigating issues, and improving performance and reliability.
- Leverage AI tools to assist with exploration, implementation, and debugging, to improve engineering productivity and iteration speed.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Has 2+ years of software engineering experience with a real track record of shipping and owning application feature delivery in collaboration with a Product team.
- Is comfortable building Web Application features using technologies in our stack (TypeScript, HTML, SCSS, and React), and understands how to work effectively in an established codebase.
- Takes ownership of feature outcomes, follows through on commitments, and communicates progress and risks clearly - escalating when necessary.
- Has a genuine interest in understanding customer problems - you’re serious about what problems customers are facing, use cases, how to build solutions, how to engage with stakeholders to seek feedback, and act on the feedback.
- Incorporates AI tools thoughtfully as part of their workflow and takes responsibility for the output it generates.
- Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively across teams
- Is excited by the opportunity to learn and grow in a high-bar, fast-paced environment - we own our work, figure out solutions, and do whatever it takes to win as a team
We’re a growing team that works collaboratively, supports each other, and is energized by having an impact. We value passion and the ability to learn — you’re encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn’t match the job description precisely!
