Front-End Developer / Technical Analyst

Position Overview:

Johnson Controls is seeking a talented and motivated Front-End Developer / Technical Analyst to join our dynamic team in Marketing IT. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing JCI’s digital presence by analyzing our current web footprint and properties. You will dive deep into the existing codebase to provide insightful technical recommendations that address key requirements while ensuring efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth technical analyses to recommend enhancements or new implementations for front-end code and features on our websites, including the development of site themes and multi-layered cookie banners.
• Design, develop, and maintain the front end of Sitecore SXA website with high-performance, multi-site, and multi-lingual public-facing website, ensuring a rich and engaging user experience.
• Create and implement user interfaces for various web applications within a multi-site platform, translating design concepts and business requirements into functional and user-friendly interfaces.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including designers, back-end developers, and stakeholders—to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code utilizing HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Ensure responsiveness and compatibility of websites across diverse devices and browsers to deliver a seamless user experience.
• Optimize web performance by implementing best practices to minimize load times and enhance page speed.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of front-end code to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
• Stay abreast of emerging front-end technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continually enhance our web capabilities.
• Work in tandem with back-end developers to ensure seamless integration of front-end interfaces with server-side functionalities.
• Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to promote high-quality code standards and consistency.
• Review and assess existing or new code from third-party vendors to maximize our technology investments.
• Assist in documenting technical specifications and user guides to support development and maintenance efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Front-End Developer with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
• Hands on experience on Sitecore SXA with a multisite and multi-lingual web inventory with multiple themes and UI/UX.
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and Bootstrap, with hands-on experience in coding with JavaScript and jQuery.
• Familiarity with modern frameworks such as Angular, React.js, Vue.js, or Node.js is highly desirable.
• Understanding of server-side CSS and its application in web development.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the entire web development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
• Experience with browser testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to determine the structure and design of web pages, with a focus on enhancing user experience.
• Experience with responsive and adaptive design techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Previous experience with content management systems such as Sitecore, Drupal, Expression Engine, or ASP.NET is a plus.
