Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide accurate and efficient checkout by entering correct SKU, quantity, and weight information into the POS system.
  • Engage customers warmly and offer membership information during transactions.
  • Ask customers to Round Up for the monthly sponsored non-profit, reflecting our core values.
  • Follow all cash handling and check receiving procedures to maintain till accuracy.
  • Uphold state regulations concerning the sale of alcoholic beverages.
  • Support customers at self-checkout stations and assist with questions.
  • Manage challenging customer situations with calmness and professionalism, involving leadership when needed.
  • Help maintain a clean and orderly Front End, including the foyer, cart areas, eating spaces, and restrooms.
  • Balance customer service with tasks such as stocking and light cleaning to keep the department running smoothly.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities that create a welcoming customer experience.
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain information, including common PLU codes.
  • Calm, objective approach to resolving issues and responding under pressure.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
  • Efficient work habits suited to a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Retail cashier or customer service experience preferred, especially in a grocery environment.

Physical Demands
This position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a grocery store setting, including standing or sitting for prolonged periods, occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Repetitive hand and arm movements, use of step stools or ladders, and proper PPE when using appliances and equipment are required.

Working Environment
Work is performed primarily in a busy grocery store setting, with frequent customer interaction and regular interruptions. You’ll be part of a friendly, cooperative team that values connection, efficiency, and great service.
