The Copywriter and Brand Project Manager role combines creative writing responsibilities with full-cycle project management. As a Copywriter, this position is responsible for creating original copy for clients, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with brand voice, as well as performing quality assurance on copy produced by other linguists. In the Project Coordinator capacity, this role serves as a key player at TransPerfect Translations, managing projects from start to finish and acting as the single point of contact accountable for their successful completion.
Position responsibilities:
Copywrite and edit the copy of product descriptions in the target language matching clients’ brand identity and any given brand specific information
Become familiar with projects’ contents and briefing prior to starting work on the copy and initiating project workflows, liaising with Account Executives/Client Services to clarify/modify/correct project instructions/parameters as needed
Coordinate with Account Executives/Client Services and the client themselves to educate/advise clients regarding the best way to accomplish their goals for individual projects
Creative material: write and review, verify text against provided reference material, proofread/enter proofreader’s corrections and implement reviewers’ comments
Proactively communicate with client Product Owners, be actively involved in internal meetings and client calls
In downtime periods, review and structure past project information for future use.
Keep up-to-date with technical and linguistic developments (read industry publications, web research, etc.); help other language groups, Creative Managers/Coordinators or other departments with functional tasks
Assist with the training of new Copywriters
Use appropriate reference materials/glossaries as needed to maximize consistency and quality
Launch submissions, source external vendors to help when needed
Negotiate rates and deadlines with contract linguists in order to maximize profitability and project completion speed
Become familiar with provided localization software and tools, maintaining terminology databases and translation memories
Communicate any issues/problems/delays/additional information to Account Executives/Client Services on an immediate basis and work to troubleshoot any issues that arise
Effectively liaise with other departments that are essential parts of the project workflow (for instance, Project Managers, Client Services team, Internal Linguists, etc.)
Perform a Final Eye quality check and issue a quality score for the Linguist prior to sending a job out for delivery, returning completed projects to Account Executives/Client Services/delivery platform within the agreed deadlines
Bill projects completely and accurately within 24 hours of project completion, complying with all appropriate regulations and processes
Establish and maintain working relationships with contract linguists located around the world, consistently giving constructive feedback as needed for substandard work performed, imposing appropriate sanctions for repeat cases
Investigate client complaints, filing compliance reports and working with Quality Assurance/Management to implement the appropriate systemic changes to ensure that any problems that occurred cannot be repeated
Work to understand and be knowledgeable about individual clients as well as their industry, including current events, business trends and industry leaders
Make recommendations to the Department Manager on ways to improve any processes, etc. as part of TransPerfect’s commitment to continual improvement
Travel to client meetings at least 4 times a year or as needed (expensed by the company)
Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for this role and assigned by the manager/supervisor
Essential skills and experience required:
Native level of French
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
University degree or its equivalent
Organized with strong time management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment to simultaneously execute multiple projects
Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem solving/critical thinking skills
Ability to maintain professionalism, focus and result-orientation in all situations, especially under pressure when working towards tight deadlines
Experience working in a corporate environment within the industries of language and digital services/solutions
Excellent creative writing skills
Team player comfortable working in cross-functional, multicultural teams and international clients
