JOB DESCRIPTION

Special Report w/ Bret Baier is seeking an experienced Freelance Producer with a proven record of producing live television news. The ideal candidate has exceptional editorial judgment, a strong understanding of the principles of journalism, and deep knowledge of national politics. This role requires the ability to thrive under intense deadline pressure in a fast-paced newsroom while bringing creativity, sound news judgment, and strong organizational skills to every assignment.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITES

  • Pitch original stories, compelling segments, and enterprise ideas
  • Book newsmakers, analysts, and panelist
  • Produce live shots, taped packages, panel discussions, and guest segments
  • Write, edit, and fact-check scripts prior to air
  • Screen video, produce graphics, and coordinate with production teams to support editorial content
  • Collaborate with anchors, correspondents, editors, and control room personnel throughout the production process
  • Manage breaking news coverage and multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Take on additional editorial and production responsibilities based on newsroom needs

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience producing live television and breaking-news coverage
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and strong news instincts
  • Excellent writing, communication, and copy-editing skills
  • Extensive knowledge of national politics, international affairs, and current events
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, multitask effectively, and perform under pressure
  • Familiarity with digital editing workflows, tape, and television graphics
  • Proficiency with iNews, VIZ, and building television rundowns
  • A self-motivated, team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel when needed

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $40.00-50.00 per hour.
