Job Description

Serve as a subject matter expert and resource regarding all instances of forgery, fraud and identity theft perpetrated at or through Wings Credit Union. Utilize internal and external reporting analysis to prevent and mitigate fraud risk across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Investigates reports of fraud and identity theft received from Wings employees (Suspicious Activity Heads Up, Phone Calls, Emails), members and outside sources.
  • Act as a resource consultant for front line business on issues related to fraud loss.
  • Analyzes risk and operational data to proactively review and identify fraudulent activity and trends.
  • Initiates investigative referrals to Fraud Investigators and supports Investigators with fraud analysis and documentation gathering for reporting to FINCEN and other Law Enforcement agencies.
  • Represents Fraud Intelligence in the participation of enterprise business and process improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively initiates and participates in departmental business process improvement initiatives.
  • Partners with Learning and Development to deliver materials and training to employees regarding Wings' Fraud and Identity Theft programs.
  • Utilizes independent judgement to determine the most appropriate course of action to resolve member issues and losses. Coordinates with Law Enforcement, Courts, Collection Agencies, and other Third Parties to support the resolution activities.
  • Actively participates in local fraud prevention networking groups, keeping current on trends and fraud scenarios. Utilizes these contacts in prevention and recovery efforts.
  • Keeps detailed records of all fraudulent activity perpetrated through the credit union within internal case management software.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Wings policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • 3+ years financial institution experience required
  • 1+ Prior experience in fraud investigation preferred

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • PC Computer skills including proficiency in Word and Excel required
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, manage time, prioritize, multitask, and make sound judgements.
  • Maintain professional demeanor with internal employees, members, and law enforcement.
  • Ability to function efficiently and effectively under deadlines and stress while maintaining a professional and mature profile.

Certifications Required:

  • Willingness to obtain International Association of Financial Crime Investigators (IAFCI) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation within first year of employment required

Additional Information

PAY RANGE: $65,000 to $77,000 annually (S14), plus 10% annual target bonus.
Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, location and internal pay equity.
