About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead Unlimit’s information security program in Nigeria. This critical position involves liaising with local regulatory authorities—such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)—to ensure compliance, overseeing risk management, and driving security initiatives in alignment with Unlimit’s global frameworks and standards. As the local figurehead for information security, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain a robust security posture, protect sensitive data, and respond effectively to emerging threats. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of Nigeria’s regulatory environment.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary liaison for security-related matters with local regulatory bodies, including the CBN.
- Ensure that all policies, procedures, and controls align with Nigeria’s financial services regulations and data protection standards.
- Develop and execute an overarching security strategy tailored to Unlimit’s Nigerian operations.
- Oversee the integration of established frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST) to meet both local and global security objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate security risks within the Nigerian market.
- Collaborate with global and local teams to implement best practices that minimize vulnerabilities.
- Coordinate local security audits and ensure prompt remediation of any findings.
- Lead or participate in incident response activities, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact to operations.
- Communicate security priorities effectively to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., merchants, partner institutions).
- Promote a security-first culture through regular training and awareness programs.

Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in information security, regulatory compliance, or closely related roles within fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Strong familiarity with Nigeria’s IT regulations, data protection laws, and compliance ecosystem.
- Proven experience engaging with regulatory bodies such as the CBN and the Nigeria Financial Authority.
- Thorough understanding of frameworks like PCI DSS, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC, SOX, COBIT, and NIST.
- At least one professional certification (CISSP, CISA, CISM, or CRISC) is mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills to interface effectively with local stakeholders and global teams.
- Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and offer strategic insights that balance regional requirements with corporate goals.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in additional local languages is a plus.
