FP&A Business partner - Expenses

The Role:

This role sits within the UK Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, reporting to the Head of FP&A and Business Partnering.

The role comprises of two key parts; (1) Business partnering the Technology & Change function –acting as “co-pilot” to the Head of Change and IT Leadership team, and (2) Owning the monthly reporting and performance analysis process for the wider UK cost base, in support of the Senior Finance Business Partner.

The role provides a fantastic gateway opportunity for a Big 4 trained (or equivalent) qualified Accountant with 1-2 years post qualified experience in industry or practice to join a fast paced, highly commercial business that can offer career progression and senior interaction across the whole spectrum of finance activities.

What you’ll be doing:

• Business partner the Head of Change and IT Leadership team – owning the overall UK Technology and Change spend story for the UK portfolio
• Assessing business cases and holding the business to account on benefit realisation
• Timely preparation of monthly management information for Technology costs for both opex and capex.
• Timely and accurate forecasting of the Technology portfolio, identifying risks and opportunities to plan
• Assessing capex eligibility and processing the capitalisation onto the balance sheet
• Owning the monthly UK expenses reporting process, including; (i) headcount reporting, (ii) Travel dashboard, (iii) Personal Expenses analysis, (iv) and drawing out key insights on the UK cost base to enable the UK Leadership to take action.
• Co-ordinate and support the accruals process for the wider UK cost base
• Support the quarterly forecast and annual business planning process – modelling projected costs / headcount in line with the UK Strategy
• Work with the Head of UK FP&A and Senior Finance Business Partner to deliver a range of Finance projects

Person Specification:

• Relevant professional qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
• Strong data skills are essential; high levels of proficiency in excel is a must

• Professional curiosity to ask the “so what” type question

• Structured and ordered mindset with an ability to analyse and draw insights from numerical data to tell the underlying story
• Creative, proactive and innovative - does not accept the status quo
• A high performer with exceptional analytical skills and an ability make strategic recommendations
• A confident communicator with an ability to comfortably interact and influence senior business leaders

Nice to haves:

• Experience in or exposure to the general insurance sector
• Familiarity with the Oracle platform
• Experience presenting to management
• An understanding of a Technology function and what makes it tick
• Understanding of Project and Fixed Asset accounting
