FP&A Strategy Intern — Corporate FP&A

About the team

Corporate FP&A is the strategic finance partner to SumUp's leadership — the team that turns numbers into the decisions that move the business. We build the forecasts, models, and business cases behind budget allocation, pricing, and new market launches, and we sit close to the executives who act on them. As our FP&A Strategy Intern, you'll own real analysis from day one and see your work land in front of senior decision-makers.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate budget allocation and business plans
  • Examine internal financial data to identify risks and opportunities and provide financial expertise to support managerial decision making
  • Support cross-functional projects to maximise financial performance, such as pricing strategies, revenue optimisation, or cost reduction initiatives
  • Develop business cases to assess the financial viability of projects, including product or market launches, and provide data-driven support for senior leadership reporting and presentations.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and financial metrics to assess performance, while also contributing to the optimization and automation of finance-related processes through the implementation of new methodologies and/or tools.

You'll be perfect for this role if…

  • You're finishing (or about to finish) a Master's in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • You think in a structured, hypothesis-driven way and can break an ambiguous problem into clear analysis.
  • You've had a first taste of fast-paced problem-solving through internships in consulting, venture capital, startups, banking, or FP&A.
  • You're confident building models in Google Sheets and telling a crisp story in Google Slides, and you can automate your work with Apps Script (or you're keen to learn).
  • You have a solid grounding in finance and accounting basics, you know your way around cost centers and GL accounts and how the numbers fit together, and you're comfortable working with finance tools like SAP and Pigment.
  • You can explain complex financial ideas simply to people outside of finance.

Why you should join SumUp

  • Work on real strategic questions alongside SumUp's finance leadership, with analysis that feeds decisions affecting millions of merchants
  • A steep learning curve and direct mentorship from FP&A managers
  • Extras like an Urban Sports Club subsidy and subsidised office lunches
  • A truly global, multicultural team of 3,000+ SumUppers from 90+ nationalities
