We help our clients to analyse and understand their markets and to formulate strategies based on sound economics. The methods and models we use are often complex, but our advice is always succinct, clear and honest.

The company has grown rapidly since it was founded almost 27 years ago and currently has around 500 staff working across nine European offices (Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, London, Madrid, Paris and Prague). The company is employee-owned and has a strong culture of openness and employee engagement.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager to join our Finance team.

You will lead our financial planning, forecasting and management reporting activities, providing clear, forward-looking insight to support commercial and strategic decision-making.

Working closely with the CFO, Managing Directors, Executive Committees and Practice Leaders, you will play a key role in understanding business performance, identifying opportunities and driving improvements in financial reporting, systems and business intelligence.

This is an opportunity to make a real impact, combining financial expertise, commercial thinking and stakeholder engagement to help shape a more proactive, insight-led Finance function.

What You'll Be Doing

Management Reporting & Executive Support

  • Lead the preparation of Executive Committee and Board reporting packs, ensuring accurate, timely and insightful financial information.
  • Deliver financial analysis, commentary and presentations to support senior leadership decision-making.
  • Partner with the CFO and Finance Director to identify emerging risks, opportunities and performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful KPIs and management information to improve business visibility.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasts and longer-term financial planning.
  • Develop financial models covering revenue, headcount, utilisation, pricing, profitability and cash flow.
  • Work with Practices and business functions to review assumptions and ensure commercially robust forecasts.
  • Provide scenario and sensitivity analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Improve planning processes through greater automation, consistency and forecast accuracy.

Practice & Commercial Performance

  • Own financial performance reporting across Practices, including Practice P&Ls and key commercial metrics.
  • Partner with Practice Leaders to provide insight into revenue, utilisation, pricing, margins and profitability.
  • Analyse performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Support commercial decisions relating to pricing, recruitment, resource allocation and investment.
  • Develop consistent benchmarking and provide ad-hoc financial analysis to senior stakeholders.

Business Intelligence, Systems & Data

  • Lead improvements in Finance management information and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Develop financial reporting within Workday and dashboards using Power BI and other reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT and other teams to improve data quality and systems integration.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting, reduce manual processes and improve efficiency.
  • Establish consistent financial and operational metrics to support reliable business reporting.

Financial Insight & Continuous Improvement

  • Deliver forward-looking analysis to support commercial and strategic decisions.
  • Monitor key business drivers and emerging trends, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Undertake detailed financial analysis and support business cases and investment reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, providing commercial insight and constructive challenge.
  • Drive continuous improvement across FP&A processes, reporting and systems.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who combines strong financial expertise with commercial awareness and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Significant experience in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting, ideally within professional services or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with a good understanding of commercial performance and key business drivers.
  • Experience preparing financial reporting and presenting insights to senior leadership teams.
  • Excellent Excel skills, with experience using financial systems and reporting tools such as Workday and Power BI.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and constructively challenge senior colleagues.
  • A proactive, collaborative and commercially minded approach, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience improving financial processes, reporting and systems, with an interest in automation and business intelligence.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, take ownership and deliver high-quality work.

At Frontier, we use AI to help our Business Management Teams work more efficiently and provide high-quality support across the business. You will be expected and supported to use generative AI tools where they can improve processes, communication and the use of information, while applying your own professional judgement and expertise. You will remain responsible for the quality and accuracy of your work, including reviewing AI-generated content carefully and using it as a helpful starting point rather than relying on it without review.

At Frontier Economics, we are entirely employee-owned, meaning every team member has a voice in shaping the company’s future. Our collaborative culture encourages innovation, open dialogue, and shared success. Our stimulating and thought-provoking projects are complemented by a supportive and dynamic work environment, designed to help you thrive and grow. We also offer:

  • Hybrid Working: Employees are expected to work in the office at least two days a week, with flexibility for remote work.
  • Holiday Entitlement: 28 days of annual leave, plus public holidays, with the option to purchase up to 10 additional days of holiday per year.
  • Parental Pay: Enhanced pay of 26 weeks full pay for primary carers and 10 weeks full pay for partners.
  • Learning & Development: Extensive L&D opportunities, including Career Development Reviews with support from a dedicated Mentor.
  • Private Health Insurance: Bupa health insurance with optional family coverage (taxes paid by the employees and add on for partners & children at an additional cost). Additional cover (e.g., optical, dental) can be added at the employee's expense.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – Free, confidential support for work-life balance, health, family issues, or job-related challenges, available for you and your immediate family members.
  • Income Protection Insurance – All employees are covered by Frontier’s Group Income Protection Scheme for long-term illness or disability.
  • Life Insurance – Company-funded Group Life Assurance Scheme, covering all permanent employees from their start date.
  • Cross-Office Travel & Secondments – Opportunities for secondments to different offices or practices to expand skills and experience

What We Do

We help companies with their biggest challenges – market strategies, regulatory reviews, competition inquiries. And we help governments design innovative policies and regulatory systems. Economics is (nearly) everywhere and the economist’s toolkit is large. Clients are surprised at the breadth of our work. Not just the costs of supply, movements in demand, pricing and competitive dynamics. But we are also experts in finance, statistical modelling, game theory, market research and even the psychological side of economics. And we’ve worked in almost every sector imaginable, from fertilisers and oil rigs to handbags and iPads. In some sectors, economics is so critical that we’ve also built specialist knowledge. Our powerful tools and sector knowledge are valuable. But we try not to stop there. Making an impact for clients means understanding the issues, whether it’s the commercial reality of the business; what is really driving customer behaviour; or the political context. We are also aware that our clients want clear and simple advice, from people they trust. So we place a lot of emphasis on our communications, and on human relationships. We provide complex analysis but plain language – English, German, French or Spanish. Our reports are often used in legal proceedings and so our evidential standards are high. We never “write to order”. Our work is respected because we are independent and obsessive about the truth. We work with clients all over the world and have offices in Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, Madrid, London and Paris. Our sister company in Australia works from Sydney and Melbourne
