Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, and highly analytical FP&A Manager to serve as a strategic financial partner to the North American leadership team of a private equity-backed manufacturer. This role owns monthly management reporting, margin and pricing analytics, business case development, and the annual operating plan and long-range forecast, while leading the tracking and reporting of the North American Playbook initiatives. The position carries significant exposure to the senior leadership team and private equity operating partners. Success requires the ability to build sophisticated analysis and then translate it into clear, actionable insight for non-financial business partners. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity, incomplete data, and tight deadlines, and brings a strong foundation in financial reporting, commercial finance, manufacturing, and operational analysis.
Key Responsibilities
• Month-End Close Support – Partner with Accounting through the monthly close: review budget versus actual results, investigate and explain variances, prepare selected journal entries and account reconciliation reviews, and produce reporting for internal review. Perform ad hoc research as needed to resolve open items.
• Monthly Management Reporting – Prepare and distribute the monthly management reporting package, including actual versus budget versus prior year results, price/volume/mix analysis, segment and product-line reporting, and executive dashboards, with commentary that explains the drivers behind the numbers.
• Commercial Finance Partnership – Support the commercial organization through commission analysis and preparation, strategic pricing analysis, and customer-level margin analysis. Serve as the finance point of contact for sales leadership on deal, program, and customer profitability questions.
• Margin Governance – Support overall margin governance across products, customers, and channels. Develop the tools, models, and data visualizations that provide business intelligence on revenue trends, gross margin, and product/customer-level profitability, and surface margin erosion early enough to act on it.
• Playbook Initiative Tracking – Lead the tracking of all North American Playbook initiatives, including development of KPIs, monitoring of actual costs and benefits against plan, and maintenance of short- and long-term forecasts.
• Business Case Development and Post-Approval Tracking – Build and support business cases for new projects and investments in partnership with Product Management, R&D, Operations, and Commercial. Support capital and spending request submissions, and track actuals against the approved business case for capex, one-time costs, and expected benefits.
• Quarterly Business Reviews – Support preparation and delivery of the quarterly North American business reviews with the senior leadership team and the private equity operations team.
• Annual Operating Plan and Long-Range Forecast – Drive development of the annual operating plan and the long-range forecast. Consolidate divisional revenue and cost budgets for accuracy, consistency, and completeness, and support rolling forecasts with a continuous improvement mindset toward automation and standardization.
• Ad Hoc Analysis and Decision Support – Respond to a high volume of ad hoc requests from business leaders with proactive tactical and strategic decision support, scenario modeling, and clear recommendations.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA or CPA designation preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive FP&A experience, including meaningful time supporting both a manufacturing operation and a commercial organization; experience across multiple business units, plants, or legal entities and in a private equity-backed company is strongly preferred.
• Intellectual Horsepower – Exceptional analytical ability, with a demonstrated track record of building complex, advanced financial models and then explaining them clearly and persuasively to non-financial business partners.
• Executive Presence – Credible, concise, and composed in front of senior audiences. This role meets regularly with the senior leadership team and private equity operating partners, and must be able to defend its analysis and hold its own in those rooms.
• Business Acumen – Able to synthesize complex business challenges and evaluate risks and opportunities beyond the purely financial elements, drawing on an understanding of commercial, operational, and supply chain dynamics.
• Self-Starter – Operates effectively amid ambiguity. Comfortable working through vague direction, incomplete data, competing priorities, and tight deadlines, and takes ownership of outcomes without waiting to be directed.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience working with ERP and financial systems; familiarity with BI tools such as Hyperion, Cognos, JDE, Power BI, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
