Conductor helps marketers create and optimize content to improve visibility online.
The Role
Build Conductor, a Mac-based product for orchestrating coding agents, alongside the co-founders. The role involves generating ideas, talking with users, designing, prototyping, and building polished software. Candidates should be scrappy, technically strong, comfortable moving quickly, and ideally have startup experience. Experience with TypeScript, Tauri, React, AI, or ML is not required; strong software engineering ability and enthusiasm for AI tools are more important.
Summary Generated by Built In

Conductor lets you run a team of coding agents on your Mac. We launched a few months ago, and are now used by engineers at leading companies like Linear, Vercel, Notion, Stripe, and Y Combinator. One user told me:

A huge amount of my work now is wildly parallelized, in a way I’ve never had to worry about before. It’s been a while since a dev tool has changed my life [like Conductor did].

We’re on a mission to build the human interface to AI organizations. Our team is small but growing. Come join the co-founders and jump into an exciting space where you can do the best work of your life. No AI experience needed, just some enthusiasm for the awesome alien power of LLMs.

About us
  • Charlie and Jackson met eight years ago when we played ultimate frisbee together at Brown. Last year, we quit our jobs at Point72 and Netflix to start Conductor together.

  • Our team is small, so there is a lot of room to grow!

  • We ship unusually fast

  • We’re backed by some of the best investors in the valley. We have plenty of money to keep the company running through rough patches.

  • We work in person in our beautiful San Francisco office

About you

We’re looking for a scrappy jack of all trades: an idea generator, an explorer, someone who can talk with users, design, prototype, and then actually build a beautiful product.

You’re probably a good fit if some or all of these are true:

  • You like to move fast

  • You have strong opinions about software

  • You have deep technical expertise

  • You use AI tools conscientiously

  • You feel like your work reflects some part of who you are

  • You have startup experience

A few things we DON’T care about:

  • Experience with our tech stack (TypeScript, Tauri, React). We trust you can pick it up.

  • Experience developing AI or ML products. We’re looking for strong software engineers.

Compensation

Pay

Compared to similar companies at our stage, we aim to pay roughly median salary and 90th percentile equity.

We give out more stock than other companies because we hire less, and each employee can make an unusually large impact.

For exceptional talent, we’re happy to pay exceptional amounts, in cash and especially equity. If that’s you, please reach out.

Health care

  • Health: Aetna PPO $500

  • Dental: Guardian PPO 2000

  • Vision: Guardian VSP Vision (Choice)

… and, most importantly, Real Health Care: sleep, nutrition, exercise, social support. We try to make Conductor a strongly positive influence on all those fronts.

Other

Whatever you need to be productive, we’ll help you get it. We trust our team with an extremely broad expense policy. More about our culture.

About the interview

Send us a short message answering one of these questions:

  1. What’s your favorite piece of software, and what do you like about it?

  2. What's something you're actively learning right now, either for work or just for fun? How are you going about it?

  3. If you’ve used Conductor before: What was confusing? What would you like to change about it?

No need to write more than a few sentences. If you’re a human, we recommend you do not use AI—nearly always, we’d rather read human writing than AI writing. (Yes, we can tell the difference.)

If you have a personal website or Twitter profile, please include a link.

Skills Required

  • Ability to design, prototype, and build polished software products

  • Experience developing AI or machine learning products

Conductor Compensation & Benefits Highlights

The following summarizes recurring compensation and benefits themes identified from responses generated by popular LLMs to common candidate questions about Conductor and has not been reviewed or approved by Conductor.

  • Affordable Benefits Employee medical premiums are described as fully covered in postings, with several mentions of very low- or no-cost employee-only plans. This lowers out-of-pocket expenses and increases the perceived value of the total package.
  • Healthcare Strength Coverage spans medical, dental, vision, mental health, life, and short/long-term disability, with an EAP also offered. Descriptions emphasize comprehensive options alongside protections such as AD&D and FSAs/HSAs.
  • Leave & Time Off Breadth Policies highlight flexible or unlimited PTO, paid holidays, sick days, volunteer time, and generous paid parental leave. Company-wide extras like a winter shutdown and a work-from-anywhere month further expand time-off flexibility.
