Hey — I’m Shail, co-founder & CEO at Flent 👋🏼

Since this is a Founder’s Office role, you’ll work very closely with me. So before anything else, it’s important you understand who I am to work with, not just what I’ve done.

I broadly see founders fall into three buckets: builders, salespeople, and creators.

I’m a salesperson, through and through.

Persuasion, alignment, and getting people excited about an idea - that’s my core skill. Roughly 50% of my day job is selling: to investors, team members, candidates, customers, landlords — basically anyone who needs to believe in something before it fully exists. I’ve spent years practising this craft, and it shapes how I think and operate.

I’m a half-baked creator, mostly as a writer. Writing brings me clarity and helps me scale my thinking — it’s how I ‘sell ideas’ internally and externally. But because much of my time goes into selling and operating, I often rely on my team to execute brand, content, and creative work that I care deeply about, but can’t do by myself.

Building is where I’m the weakest of the three. Not because I don’t understand how things are built, but because I’ve rarely been the one doing the hands-on building myself. When I do step in, I usually contribute taste, attention to detail, and momentum, while surrounding myself with people who are better builders than I am.

If you’re hired for this role:

• You’ll cover for me in areas I don’t understand deeply.

• You’ll be my brainstorm partner + execution muscle in areas I’m half-baked in.

• And you’ll do a lot of selling on my behalf — acting as a trusted extension of me wherever I can’t personally be.

You ultimately have one job : make the founder more effective per unit time. That’s it. Everything else is details.

Your role is to take weight off my brain, my calendar, and my day - so I can focus on the few things only I can do. Anything important that I should be doing but don’t have the bandwidth for? You grab it. Anything stuck between teams? You unstick it. Anything waiting on me? You either push me or move it yourself.

This is not a “scope-defined” job. It’s a “whatever matters most right now” job. Could be investor updates.

Could be a tech-issue that the growth team is unable to solve.

Could be a data situation that’s killing my visibility.

Or a half-baked thought that I want someone to execute.

On some days, it could be literally: “make sure Pratik does the thing he said he’ll do.”

• Integrity that doesn't shake. If I’m not in the room, I don’t worry.

• Long-term brain. You can take short-term pain if it compounds later.

• Scrappy + resourceful. I only take two responses - ”This is where I’m stuck” or “This is done”

• Hunger to win.

• Cross-functional sanity. Ops, product, people, numbers - you can pick up anything.

• Sales & storytelling come naturally to you. If not, you listen, learn & improve.

• You’re a vibe coder. And you don’t shy away from building wherever and whenever required.
  

• You have put 2–5 years in actually doing hard things - not “supporting,” not “assisting,” but building, selling, marketing or fixing stuff.

• You communicate clearly - if you send long paragraphs, this won’t work.

• You’ve been close to chaos - founder, early hire in a startup, FO, consulting, VC, anything where ambiguity was the norm.

• You move fast by default - not because someone chases you, but because slow work physically irritates you.

• You have a real founder itch - want to build your own company someday, and this role feels like a rehearsal.
  

We’re not hiring for a routine role. So we’re not running a routine process.

1. A 20-Minute Application Process - Answer five sharp questions that show us how you think. Real answers = you move forward. Generic answers = you don’t.

2. In-person chat with Me.

3. We give you something messy - an unfinished investors deck, a half-baked idea. Your job: make it better and send it back within 72 hours.

4. A Few More Chats - You talk to 2-3 people who work closely with me. If both sides still feel aligned, we move ahead and roll-out an offer.
