About this role
This 6-month, part-time internship (24 - 32 hours/week in Amsterdam) offers an exciting opportunity to act as a Forward-Deployed Engineer embedded within our Legal operations team. You will work at the intersection of technology and operations, using teamwork to deliver smart software solutions, automations, and data-enabled tools.
Embodying our core values to lead, deliver, and care, you will empower internal stakeholders with a customer-centric approach. No prior legal background is required—we are seeking a proactive engineer eager to apply core engineering principles to unique operational challenges.
These are some of the key components to the position:
- Translate Ambiguity into Solutions: Partner closely with team members to take complex operational challenges and build practical technical specifications and software tools.
- Rapid Prototyping & Build: Design, code, and deploy internal tools, custom scripts, and AI-driven workflows while aiming high to drive excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a clear technical link between engineering and business stakeholders, helping one another succeed through effective communication.
- System Architecture & Design: Apply core system design concepts to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with company goals.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Keep it simple by documenting codebases, workflows, and user guidelines to scale tools effectively across the function.
What will you bring to the team?
- Technical Mindset: Strong foundation in computer science or software engineering principles through formal education or equivalent practical coding experience.
- Core Engineering Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or JavaScript, with a drive to aim higher and drive excellence in system design.
- Partner Focus: Ability to develop an understanding of our internal and external partners to convert ambiguous requirements into functional technology.
- Goal Commitment: Resourceful and adaptable approach, staying committed to achieving goals while navigating open-ended technical challenges.
- Clear Communication: Highly articulate and approachable style, collaborating effectively with non-technical team members to make a lasting impact.
- Emerging Tech & Automation: Passion for or experience with LLM APIs, automation frameworks, scripting, or building custom internal dashboards.

Skills Required
