We are currently recruiting for Foodgrade Sales Manager to join our STC Sales/Commercial team. You will be joining a professional and international team with extensive knowledge of the industry. Working closely with our customers and vendors, you will provide customers with excellent service. Your expertise ensures that we will continue to set the industry benchmark for seamless and efficient operations.

Stolt Tank Containers (STC) is a leading provider of door-to-door transportation services for bulk- liquid chemicals and food-grade products. With a fleet of more than 45,000 tank containers, STC is the only operator with its own worldwide network of 22 owned and joint venture depots. 


What you will be doing

As a Foodgrade Sales Manager, you will have Profit & Loss responsible for the Foodgrade business within China and the management of the same. Responsible to manage, develop import and export business and optimize all aspects of STC’s business via the office network in the respective region.  Working effectively in a matrix organization to facilitate maximum growth and profitability while supporting high levels of customer service and ensuring all health, safety, quality and environmental requirements are met. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Prime responsibility is for the growth of Foodgrade sales, marketing and customer account plan development within China for imports and exports.
  • To work collaboratively with the Foodgrade team, China sales team and other regional managers and directors, customers and vendors to profitably grow the business.
  • Maintain, nurture and expand existing customer relationships within the area of responsibility. Ensuring strategic account plans are developed, regularly maintained and reviewed with the Foodgrade Director for select key STC Foodgrade accounts. 
  • To develop and implement continuous improvement in the business operations with focus on customer centricity, quality assurance and operational efficiency/cost control.
  • Coordinate account activity and pricing strategy for your customers in conjunction with the Pricing Team and Foodgrade Director, as necessary to ensure alignment with STC’s Foodgrade regional and global strategy.
  • Identify, contact and develop new customer relationships in the area of responsibility, responding to and following up on inquiries. Regularly monitor and report on the profitability of business performed (exports and imports as necessary) and new business developed or lost in the areas of sales control.

  • Gather, collate and report information on competition activities or other relevant data in your area of control.
    • Work with different stakeholders to evaluate new suppliers, logistics solutions and operational improvement opportunities within your area of control.
  • Operations - Assist to develop operational excellence via the establishment of core processes and standardization of best practices. Support operations strategy development by Operations Manager(s) for China region focusing on maximizing profit and reducing costs. Whilst growing volume and market share growth. Together with FOO Fleet Manager, Monitor equipment balance, supply and flow of STC Food tank assets within your area of control, within the established structure of regional and global fleet planning.
  • Accounting - Ensure, together with CSM, Accounting that China Food accounting issues are promptly addressed and resolved for your client base Immediately relay any problems affecting the handling, operation, billing or invoice collection for business in your area of control.
  • Other - Working with the Foodgrade Director and other members of the STC Foodgrade Team to develop and implement the Foodgrade strategy. 
    • To support and enforce STC and SNL policies and vision.
    • Assist in design or completion of sales presentations when required. 
    • Timely preparation and distribution of customers visit reports on CRM. 
    • Monthly/Annual updating of Sales Forecasts & Annual input to FOO Budget 
    • Assist, when necessary, in the creation of customer quotations within STC systems.
    • To attend various management meetings and Foodgrade related, industry events and exhibitions as required

Qualifications 

  • College or University degree preferred. 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Sales roles and or experience in other logistics positions and fields of expertise.

  • Proven track record of change management within an innovation framework.

  • Thorough knowledge of the tank container logistics industry, familiar with operational excellence, logistics systems and managing a network of offices, agents and staff.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English and awareness of different cultures.

  • Solid analytical skills and excellent financial insight into markets.

  • Strong marketing and sales skills; able to promote a strong understanding of the company’s services, assets, products and customers. 

  • Strong focus on being customer centric.

  • Excellent management skills.
