Position Title: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT CONTRACTOR (FOIA Specialist)

Former legal assistants, paralegals, compliance specialists, and records professionals often perform well in this position.
Salary: $160,000 Max – Senior SME 2 / $135,000 Max – Consultant SME 1 DOE
Place of Performance: Remote/Telework Eligible
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Clearance: Public Trust recommended or eligible for a Public Trust
Education: Required bachelor’s degree in political science, Government, Law, Public Administration, or related field.
Experience: Required 5+ years FOIA experience, Federal agency FOIA processing.
Certifications: Preferred American Society of Access Professionals certifications, FOIA Professional Certifications or Privacy certifications.
CONTRACT SUMMARY
The Compliance Contract Support Task Order provides professional compliance and administrative support services to the International Trade Administration (ITA), Office of the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (OCFAO). The contract supports the agency's statutory compliance responsibilities under the: Federal Records Act , Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Clinger-Cohen Act and Federal information management and administrative requirements.
The position provides subject matter expertise that assists ITA leadership with records management, regulatory compliance, information collection approvals, federal information requests, capital planning, property accountability, administrative operations, travel management, and organizational support activities.
Contract Role Summary
The FOIA Specialist supports ITA's Freedom of Information Act program by processing FOIA requests, conducting reviews, performing redactions, and ensuring timely responses to public requests. This position directly supports government transparency and public access to federal records.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Support all aspects of ITA Freedom of Information Act Program.
- Conduct FOIA case review and adjudication.
- Work cases as assigned.
- Redline, redact and compile pages.
- Create logs and records for cases.
- Communicate with appropriate offices and requestors.
- Generate monthly FOIA case reports, including the number of closed cases and cases worked.
- Generate Annual summary of all cases closed throughout the year and any case worked regardless of closures status.
- Provide FOIA training as requested to the Bureau audience.
- Participate in DOJ FOIA trainings.
