Position Summary:
The Site FLIGHT DECK Leader will act as an agent of change for process improvement and Lean implementation for the Intergalactic St George, Utah manufacturing site. The Site FLIGHT DECK Leader will drive lean transformation, furthering a culture focused on continuous improvement by providing lean education, training and support to the manufacturing operations teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years’ experience in Manufacturing developing Lean or continuous improvement strategies)
- 5+ years of experience in teaching, coaching, practicing and applying lean methods (I.E., VSM, cell design, 3P, TPM, 5S, set-up reduction, Kaizen, daily management, standard work, leader standard work, problem solving, Hoshin Kanri, Gemba, and lean transformations)
- 3+ years’ management experience
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug and background screen.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages processes that enable the implementation of lean in both the transactional and operational manufacturing areas of GE Aviation’s St George, UT manufacturing site.
- Supports GE and GE Aviation kaizen promotion offices with initiatives to re-engineer processes and methods to assure effectiveness and efficiency in the deployment and application of Lean. Delivers Lean trainings and facilitates events/workouts to achieve measurable improvements.
- Serves as a champion, coach, and mentor for change by influencing and guiding leadership and teams to better understand and adopt lean principles, and problem-solving methodologies, ultimately fostering a culture of change and servant leadership.
- Leads the planning and execution of Kaizens, daily management, and other Lean transformation initiatives focused on safely eliminating waste, creating velocity, and reducing lead times through the application of standard work. Drives adherence to Kaizen standard work and daily management ensuring high levels of engagement and collaboration during pre-work, event week, and post event weeks.
- Trains and coaches via formal training and Gemba walks on problem-solving behaviors and basic lean methodologies including visual management, daily management, 5S, Standardized work, and leader standard work. Analyzes data and uses value stream mapping to create current and future state lean manufacturing designs which drive the transformation road map. Builds cross-functional relationships within the value stream to build trust and gain the credibility to challenge the current state.
- Strong understanding of change management to build momentum and excitement for operational changes across the business.
- Coaches the team on development, implementation, and sustainment of a linked operating system that drives KPI transformation incorporating learnings from daily management for continuous improvement.
