Akamai's Infrastructure Engineering & Operations organization builds and maintains Akamai's Platform - one of the world's largest distributed platforms. Our Server Hardware Engineering team is responsible for designing, qualifying, and testing servers destined for our growing network.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Firmware Quality Assurance Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our Linux-based firmware products within networking environments.
As a Hardware Engineer II, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing & conducting comprehensive functional, regression, and performance testing of Linux-based firmware. Design test plans, scenarios etc..
- Designing, developing, and maintain automated test suites from scratch using Python
- Verifying the integrity and performance of internal and external APIs integrated with the firmware.
- Identifying, document, and track software defects using Jira (or similar tools), working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
- Configuring and maintaining network lab environments and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing.
- Handling estimation, commitments, and the Jira ticket system on a daily basis.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Demonstrate expertise in the Linux operating system, system configuration, and analyzing logs effectively.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Routing).
- Demonstrate expertise in Python programming without exception.
- Gain practical expertise using tools designed for testing APIs effectively.
- Understand firmware update processes, bootloaders, and hardware-software interfaces to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Solid understanding of the principles of computer and server architecture
