Role: Firmware Engineer
Location: Cikarang, IndonesiaPosition SummaryAnalyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies firmware enhancements and/or new products used in embedded systems, which could range from bare metal systems to system on modules board system.
Using current embedded programming language and technologies, most notably C/C++, writes code, completes programming, do code compilation, and performs testing and debugging onboard firmware applications. Completes detailed design and development documentation. Keep code version using versioning system (git preferable). Interact heavily with team to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate as an active member of a firmware development team, contributing to innovative solutions that support customer-focused products and systems used in the Utilities & Energy industry.
Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller- and processor-based systems, ranging from bare-metal implementations to System-on-Module (SoM) platforms.
Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code using C/C++, demonstrating accountability for software quality, performance, and security.
Participate in requirements discussions and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure firmware solutions align with customer and business needs.
Assist in the design, development, integration, and troubleshooting of firmware subsystems and embedded applications.
Execute code compilation, testing, validation, and debugging activities to ensure robust product performance and reliability.
Contribute to design documentation, technical specifications, and development records to support knowledge sharing and compliance requirements.
Utilize version control systems, preferably Git, to manage source code and maintain development integrity.
Investigate technical issues, support root-cause analysis activities, and contribute to timely resolution of product and system challenges.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by helping implement firmware development processes, tools, and best practices.
Demonstrate agile and collaborative ways of working while adapting to changing project priorities and customer requirements.
Promote authentic communication, innovation, and accountability within the engineering team.
Fresh graduate or up to 3 years of experience in firmware development, embedded software engineering, or microcontroller programming.
Proficiency in C and/or C++ programming languages.
Understanding of digital logic, computer architecture, and embedded system fundamentals.
Experience participating in at least one real-world, academic, internship, or commercial embedded systems project.
Knowledge of firmware development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Ability to analyze technical problems and develop practical solutions in a collaborative environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated commitment to customer-centric thinking, accountability, and continuous learning.
Ability to work in an agile development environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Experience with embedded communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, or similar technologies.
Knowledge of embedded security concepts, secure coding practices, or device cybersecurity.
Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
Exposure to RTOS-based development, Linux-based embedded systems, or System-on-Module architectures.
Understanding of firmware validation, test automation, or hardware-software integration processes.
Experience developing solutions for industrial, utility, energy, IoT, or connected-device environments.
Demonstrated passion for innovation and emerging embedded technologies.
