OVERVIEW:
The Senior Manager, Finance Analytics and Digital Transformation is a senior individual contributor who combines Finance knowledge with analytics, reporting technology, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), Python, and business intelligence (BI) capabilities. The role is responsible for the technical delivery and continuous improvement of Finance reporting and analytics solutions and for advancing practical digital transformation across Finance. The position reduces manual effort, improves data quality and transparency, and creates scalable tools that support timely and reliable business decisions.
The position reports directly to the Vice President, Finance & IT and works closely with Accounting and Controlling functions, Digital Innovation, Regional IT, and relevant business stakeholders. The respective Accounting or Controlling function remains responsible for financial content, definitions, business logic, interpretation, approval, and source-data ownership. The Senior Manager translates those requirements into reliable data extraction, analytics, automation, BI, and digital solutions. Digital Innovation and Regional IT provide alignment on architecture, cybersecurity, data governance, approved platforms, and technical standards.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The position is based within GIW Finance, and the majority of its capacity is dedicated to GIW reporting, analytics, automation, and digital-transformation priorities. The role also provides selected support to North America Regional Finance and KSB Mining where reporting solutions, analytics, automation, data extraction, or digital tools can be efficiently reused or scaled. Priorities are set based on business needs and available capacity; the responsibilities below apply to the role as a whole and are not separated by organizational area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Finance Reporting Enablement and Analytics Solutions
- Design, maintain, and continuously improve the technical delivery of recurring financial and management reporting, including dashboards, KPI packages, management presentations, and standardized reporting templates. The respective Accounting or Controlling function retains ownership of financial content, definitions, approval, and business interpretation.
- Extract, combine, transform, reconcile, and validate data from SAP, business intelligence platforms, planning tools, and other source systems; establish repeatable data flows, technical controls, and documented reporting logic in collaboration with the responsible functional data owners.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines, interfaces, and extraction processes from SAP, business intelligence platforms, planning tools, databases, and other business systems to ensure reliable, timely, and controlled availability of data for reporting, analytics, automation, and AI applications.
- Build and automate data preparation and reporting processes supporting month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, profitability, cost development, working capital, cash flow, operational KPIs, and management decision-making. Accounting and Controlling remain responsible for the underlying accounting treatment, KPI definitions, financial conclusions, and business actions.
- Enable trend, variance, root-cause, and scenario analysis through reliable data, analytical models, reporting platforms, and transparent calculations. The respective Controller or business owner remains responsible for the financial interpretation, business conclusions, and recommended actions.
- Build and maintain business intelligence dashboards, self-service reporting tools, and automated data products that improve transparency and reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets, using KPI definitions, reporting logic, and data ownership established by the responsible Accounting or Controlling function.
- Maintain technical reporting calendars, documentation, quality checks, data-refresh routines, and backup procedures to ensure timely, accurate, consistent, and sustainable delivery of reporting solutions.
Finance Digital Transformation and Automation
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate Finance processes, with particular focus on reporting, forecasting, budgeting, month-end activities, data preparation, and recurring analytical work.
- Design, program, implement, and maintain practical reporting, analytics, automation, and digital solutions using appropriate technologies, including but not limited to Python, SQL, Power Automate, VBA, business intelligence platforms, AI technologies, and other current or emerging tools approved by the organization.
- Redesign inefficient processes before automating them and develop solutions that are controlled, documented, maintainable, and scalable beyond a single user or company where practical.
- Evaluate emerging AI, analytics, and business intelligence technologies; develop proof-of-concept pilots and business cases to demonstrate measurable value before broader implementation.
- Develop and maintain the Finance analytics and digital-transformation roadmap based on priorities and business value agreed with Finance leadership, considering risk, available capacity, governance requirements, and alignment with IT priorities.
- Support responsible AI adoption in Finance, including appropriate controls, data protection, documentation, user guidance, and compliance with company governance requirements.
Functional Ownership and Reporting Governance
- Accounting and Controlling functions remain responsible for the accuracy, financial treatment, KPI definitions, business logic, interpretation, and approval of their respective financial and management information.
- Functional data owners within Accounting, Controlling, or the relevant business function remain responsible for source and master data definitions, data accuracy, correction of underlying records, and approval of business-critical data used in reporting and analysis.
- The Senior Manager owns the Finance reporting architecture and technical reporting environment, including data extraction, integration, transformation, reporting data models, automation solutions, BI platforms, reporting workflows, documentation, refresh routines, and technical controls required to deliver reliable reporting and analytical capabilities.
- The role identifies data-quality issues and works with the responsible functional owner to resolve root causes, but does not replace Accounting or Controlling ownership of the underlying financial data or reporting content.
- Sales, Product, Cost, and other functional Controllers remain responsible for business interpretation and recommendations within their areas; the Senior Manager provides the data, analytical tools, automation, and reporting solutions that enable their work.
Data Quality, Technical Governance, and Collaboration
- Establish and maintain technical data-quality controls, reconciliation routines, documentation, and governance practices for financial and analytical data used in reporting, dashboards, automation, and AI applications, while functional data owners retain responsibility for source-data definitions, accuracy, correction, and approval.
- Partner with Accounting and Controlling functions, Operations, Sales, and other business functions to gather requirements from the responsible functional owners and translate business needs into practical analytical and digital solutions.
- Coordinate with Digital Innovation and Regional IT to ensure appropriate architecture, cybersecurity, access management, system integration, supportability, and technology governance.
- Lead cross-functional Finance analytics and transformation projects without direct authority, manage priorities and timelines, and communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership.
- Document processes, methodologies, data definitions, code, controls, and user instructions; develop training materials and provide user support to strengthen adoption and internal capability.
- Develop Finance and Accounting digital capabilities by training, coaching, and mentoring users on reporting, analytics, automation, AI, and business-intelligence tools. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and self-sufficiency by enabling users to effectively utilize and, where appropriate, extend and develop digital solutions within established governance standards.
- Stay current on developments in Finance analytics, AI, automation, reporting, and business intelligence and recommend practical applications relevant to the business.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Finance and organizational objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, including Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar disciplines, required; equivalent relevant business experience may be considered.
- Advanced degree or relevant professional certification in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Project Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience and Knowledge
- Five or more years of progressive experience in financial reporting, financial analysis, controlling, accounting, Finance systems, business intelligence, data analytics, digital transformation, or related areas. Experience should include meaningful responsibility for technical delivery, data extraction, reporting architecture, automation, or continuous improvement of recurring management reporting and analytical solutions.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cost and profitability analysis, working capital, cash flow, and key operational performance indicators.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, project, or service business environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to translate Finance and business requirements into reliable reporting, analytical, automation, or digital solutions and to deliver measurable process improvements.
- Hands-on experience with ERP and financial systems, preferably SAP, and with extracting, reconciling, and structuring data from multiple systems.
Technical and Professional Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and hands-on experience with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong working proficiency in data extraction, analytics, automation, and AI-enablement technologies such as Python and/or SQL; experience with Power Automate, business intelligence platforms, AI tools, or similar technologies is an asset.
