Financial Controller

As Financial Controller, you play a central role in building strong, reliable financial foundations that support Gorilla’s growth. You are responsible for the quality, accuracy, and structure of financial reporting and operations across the group. You help evolve finance from early-stage ways of working into a more mature, scalable setup, while preserving flexibility and speed. This is a broad, hands-on role within a close-knit finance team of three. You will work in partnership with the CFO and collaborate across the business, with real influence over how finance supports decision-making and growth.

Financial reporting & quality

• Own the full financial reporting cycle (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual).

• Prepare and review management accounts, balance sheets, and P&L statements.

• Ensure transactions are accurately recorded, categorised, and supported by clear documentation.

• Lead annual audits and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.

• Maintain consistent standards of accuracy and compliance across the group.

Building scalable finance processes

• Strengthen internal controls, approval workflows, and audit trails.

• Improve clarity, ownership, and documentation across finance processes.

• Gradually reduce reliance on external accountants by increasing internal ownership.

• Identify and implement improvements through automation and better use of finance systems.

Cash management, risk & compliance

• Own cash flow forecasting and provide clear visibility on liquidity and cash position.

• Manage the cash cycle, including invoicing, collections, payments, and working capital.

• Oversee tax, VAT / sales tax, payroll accounting, and statutory filings.

• Monitor financial and regulatory risks across multiple countries and jurisdictions.

Collaboration & impact

• Partner closely with the CFO on operational and strategic finance topics.

• Work with non-finance teams to improve financial understanding and decision-making.

• Contribute ideas that help finance scale in step with a growing international SaaS business.

This role is suited to a senior Financial Controller who enjoys combining hands-on ownership with collaboration and influence.

Your background & experience

• You are a qualified accountant in Belgium, with strong practical experience applying BE GAAP and managing statutory requirements end to end.

• You have owned monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles, including balance sheet integrity and audit readiness.

• You have led or significantly owned audit processes, working directly with external auditors.

• You bring experience with corporate tax, VAT / sales tax, and payroll accounting, either hands-on or through managing external providers.

• You have worked in a multi-entity and/or multi-country environment, and understand the operational and compliance complexity this brings.

• You have experience in a SaaS or technology-driven company, including recurring revenue models.

• UK accounting experience is a strong plus.

Your technical capability

• You are confident working with an ERP such as NetSuite, and improving how systems support finance processes.

• You are highly comfortable using Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and financial insight.

• You can move confidently between systems, data, and stakeholders to ensure numbers are accurate and explainable.

• You are comfortable contributing to decisions around the finance tech stack, including automation and optimisation.

• Dutch language skills are a nice to have.
