Financial Controller, KONE South East Asia (KSEA)
Reports to: Finance Director, KONE South East Asia
Location: Malaysia or Thailand
Overview of role purpose & scope:
Owner of financial integrity, reporting quality, compliance & related transformation programs for KSEA legal entities
- Ensures financial reporting across all countries is consistently accurate, compliant with IFRS and statutory requirements, and delivered in a timely manner
- Serves as the primary interface to external auditors, authorities, and key finance stakeholders, ensuring effective coordination and alignment
- Provides clear, actionable financial insights to the Finance Director, Business Controllers, and business leadership to support informed decision-making
- Drives the implementation, standardization, and continuous improvement of global finance processes and internal control frameworks
Key responsibilities for this role
- Own KSEA financial reporting integrity, ensuring accurate and timely IFRS, statutory and management reporting across all legal entities.
- Lead balance sheet governance, internal controls, compliance and audit processes across the region.
- Act as the primary finance interface to auditors, authorities, financial institutions and key external stakeholders.
- Own finance process governance across R2R, P2P, Treasury, Tax and Internal Controls, while driving transformation aiming to standardization, automation and continuous improvement.
- Drive consistency and control across KSEA entities and support structural changes impacting finance operations, reporting and governance.
- Provide accounting expertise and financial insights to business leadership on regulatory, tax, treasury, FX and other key financial matters.
Level of decision making and authority
- Accountable for KSEA financial reporting integrity, accounting treatments, statutory compliance and financial governance.
- Owns the Financial Controlling operating model and key finance processes across KSEA.
- Approval authority for critical journals, reconciliations, statutory submissions and selected financial transactions.
- Acts as a key advisor to business leadership, providing guidance and challenge on accounting, compliance, treasury, cash flow and FX-related decisions
Key competencies and experience
- Proven experience from a similar position with group-level closing responsibilities across several countries
- Extensive audit, tax, and statutory reporting experience across several international markets, with direct ownership of audit processes and external stakeholder management
- Strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance track record with IFRS, local GAAP and tax knowledge
- Proven capability of process discipline & standardization
- Demonstrated leadership of international finance teams and complex transformation programs across countries
- High integrity and compliance standards with ability for judgement and accountability
- Excellent English skills combined with strong collaboration capability across matrix organization - with ability to influence and challenge stakeholders
