About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the company's accounting operations and financial reporting while leading the transition from an outsourced accounting model to a fully in-house finance function.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll oversee the General Ledger, supervise bookkeeping operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and help establish scalable accounting processes. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys building structure, improving financial operations, and delivering accurate, timely financial information.

This position begins with a three-month contractor trial period, with the opportunity to transition into a long-term engagement based on performance and business needs. We're looking for a finance professional who demonstrates a strong sense of ownership, integrity, and the ability to handle highly confidential financial information with discretion.

What You'll DoAccounting Operations

Take full ownership of the General Ledger (GL), ensuring its accuracy, integrity, and compliance.

• Maintain and manage the Chart of Accounts.

• Lead the transition from outsourced accounting to an internal accounting function.

• Manage monthly close activities, reconciliations, and financial accuracy.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.

• Review Profit & Loss statements and financial performance across business units.

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting for executive leadership.

Team Leadership

• Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations.

• Review invoices, payroll, expense reports, and vendor payments.

• Provide guidance and oversight to the bookkeeping team.

Cash Management & Compliance

• Monitor cash flow and perform bank reconciliations.

• Coordinate payroll tax, sales tax, and year-end tax reporting activities.

• Ensure accounting practices comply with company policies and financial controls.

• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling financial records and sensitive company information.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications

Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with full ownership of the General Ledger (GL).

• Strong experience managing month-end close and financial reporting.

• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.

• Experience supervising accounting or bookkeeping teams.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.

High level of integrity with the ability to manage highly confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

Advanced English proficiency (C1/C2) with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading accounting function transitions or process improvements.

• Experience with project accounting software such as BigTime or similar platforms.

• Experience within professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or design firms.

Experience in Luxury Architecture, Interior Design, or High-End Residential Design firms is highly desirable.

• CPA or equivalent accounting certification is a plus.
