The Role
Prepare monthly management accounts, statutory IFRS accounts, reconciliations, budgets, forecasts, tax computations, regulatory submissions, and revenue collection processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who is looking to broaden their career within a regulated wealth management business.   The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of activities, including management and statutory reporting, budgeting and forecasting, regulatory and tax filings and audit support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts for the CGWIL trading entity, including various reconciliations, with an initial focus on revenue, intercompany recharges, property leases and employee benefits.
  • Ownership of the Fund Management entity month-end process, working with external bookkeepers to ensure that month-end close and regulatory reporting deadlines are met in accordance with the relevant guidelines.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts in accordance with IFRS for the main trading entity and other entities within the group structure.
  • Contribute to revenue collection processes by coordinating fee and interest runs, reviewing data for accuracy and ensuring completion within defined timetables.
  • Assist with the preparation of the capital adequacy report and ensure that annual regulatory submissions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Liaise and engage with external and internal auditors, ensuring coordination during the half-year, interim and final audit stages.
  • Assist with the preparation of relevant tax computations, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Work with the Systems & Data teams to test and develop finance-related functionality within the core Avaloq system, while continuing to monitor system integrity and the accuracy of financial records.
  • Work with the Risk department to support the effective monitoring of daily liquidity and derivative exposure risks.
  • Support Finance Officers by reviewing and approving certain processes, payments and queries that may require input from the Financial Accountant.
  • Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to provide budget and forecast information.
  • Provide support for ad hoc projects and ongoing business requests as a representative of the Financial Controls team.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Technical/Qualifications
  • Completion of appropriate professional qualification in accounting 
  • Solid technical accounting understanding and knowledge of financial reporting & month end procedures.
Systems/Internal Processes
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Avaloq experience preferable
  • Understanding of accounting software & databases.

  • High accuracy skills with the ability to maintain accuracy when meeting tight deadlines 
  • High numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and able to spot discrepancies
  • Communication skills to ensure that information is obtained and shared concisely

  • Good organisational skills and a self-starter
  • Ability to work as part of a team with people both inside and outside of the Finance function
  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and develop in a financial services environment.
Regulatory Awareness/Compliance
  • Good understanding of relevant regulations
  • Understanding of capital and liquidity requirements in a regulated business
  • Good understanding of CASS regulation
  • GFSC, JFSC and IOMFSA investment business regulatory familiarity
  • Good understanding of relevant Compliance regulations.

Skills Required

  • Completion of an appropriate professional accounting qualification
