CIMIC Group is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to support the delivery of high-quality, timely and accurate finance reporting, analysis and insights, and maintaining and strengthening financial controls and governance frameworks.

 

About the Role

The Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, supporting statutory and audit requirements, and driving continuous improvement across accounting processes. The role partners with internal stakeholders to provide insightful financial information that supports informed business decision-making.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the finance function through the timely and accurate execution of financial accounting activities, month-end close processes and reporting requirements.

  • Preparing and reviewing month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. 

  • Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant regulatory requirements. 

  • Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements and tax reporting requirements. 

  • Maintaining and strengthening financial controls and governance frameworks. 

  • Preparing monthly reporting submissions and reconciliations within OneStream in accordance with group reporting requirements.

  • Partnering with business stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights. 

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify, document and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, controls and reporting accuracy.

  • Preparing monthly financial reporting package including variance analysis validation.

  • Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit queries and findings.

  • Ad hoc duties and projects as required by finance manager.

About You – Qualifications & Experience

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline 
  • CA or CPA qualified, or working towards completion

  • 3 to 7 years of financial accounting experience, preferably with a large corporate. 
  • Proven ability to problem solve, adapt to change, and liaise with all levels of a business
  • Good communication skills are essential 
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skill
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or similar
  • Experience with financial consolidation/reporting platforms such as OneStream
  • Advanced Excel skills including Power Query, Pivot Tables and data analysis 
  • Exposure to financial process automation and reporting tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Commercial mindset
  • Ability to challenge and improve existing processes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proactive and accountable approach to work

Skills Required

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
