Job Description

Your Opportunity

As our Financial Accountant, you’ll support the Financial Reporting & Control team across month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting and key control activities. This is a 6-month fixed term opportunity reporting to the Financial Controller within Group Finance. 

You’ll play a key role in maintaining a strong financial control environment while supporting accurate reporting, audit readiness and the overall financial integrity of the Group. 

You’ll also make an impact by:

  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes including general journals and central accounting tasks. 
  • Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. 
  • Assisting with financial statements, board reporting packs, variance analysis and regulatory reporting requirements. 
  • Supporting external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries. 
  • Helping maintain financial systems, processes and procedures with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement. 
  • Assisting with operational readiness for the Workday general ledger solution including pre and post go-live activities.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll have:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within banking or financial services. 
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, standards, financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with month-end processes, general ledger reconciliations and financial control activities.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and Outlook along with exposure to accounting software. 
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a practical approach to stakeholder support. 
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. 
  • CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent. 

You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have:

  • Experience with Workday general ledger solutions. 
  • Moderate or better management reporting system skills such as TM1.
  • Experience identifying and delivering process improvements.
  • Relevant experience within the financial services industry.
