The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of accounting activities across our operating business units. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while maintaining compliance with accounting standards, taxation legislation, and internal control requirements.
Reporting directly to the Senior Accounting Manager, you’ll contribute to the preparation of complete and accurate Weekly and Monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets, support statutory and tax compliance obligations, and coordinate external audit requirements. In a period of exciting growth, this role is essential in maintaining strong financial processes and ensuring seamless data flow into our centralised accounting system, and supporting sound financial governance across the business.
Key Accountabilities –
- Prepare, reconcile, and consolidate monthly BAS returns (GST, Fuel Excise, PAYG, FBT, etc.) for group companies, ensuring timely submission to the ATO
- Assist in the preparation of annual FBT returns
- Support the preparation of yearly tax schedules and tax-effect accounting
- Coordinate and prepare accurate monthly financial reports
- Monitor and analyse the financial performance of individual operating activities
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts
- Perform monthly reconciliation of the general ledger and intercompany accounts
- Assist with year-end account preparation and resolve any audit-related issues
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Degree in Accounting, along with professional qualifications (CPA, CA)
- Preferred experience in an accounting role within a multinational organization
- Experience with Oracle Fusion an advantage
- Proven post-qualification 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting
- Experience with statutory accounts and consolidations is a plus
- Strong understanding of accounting systems
- Proficient in computer applications, including advanced Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
